BC: Looking forward to more great memories in 2013! The Murphy Family Melanie, Rich, Aidan and Molly
FC: Family vacation June 2012
We flew via Southwest Airlines to Manchester-Boston airport in New Hampshire and then drove a rental car from there. It was a very pretty drive and took about 3 hours. Everyone was entertained along the way, but anxious to get to Tyler Place for our first visit! The last hour of the drive we heard the question dreaded by parents everywhere: "are we there yet?"
We stayed in Carriage House III this year. We liked it and were comfortable there. It would have been nicer if the kids were both riding their bikes full time. It was some distance to the Inn, but good exercise for us.
The clubhouse is where Molly would start all her daily activities. Aidan's group met at the Inn.. We each claimed a bike for the week. Rich and I had a tandem adult bike, which took some getting used to. Molly's bike got quite a bit of use with Rich running along side, but Aidan parked his in front of our place and there it stayed until the last day when someone bumped it and it got a flat tire. He walked with me when we dragged it up the hill to return it, have it fixed and ready for the next person.
 Gone Fishing!
The kids enjoyed fishing a couple of times. They got to go on a pontoon cruise with their group early in the week and then again on a boat with me on Friday afternoon. Aidan didn't catch a fish the first time, but he caught 2 with me. Molly had better luck and caught 2 or 3 each trip. No matter how many fish, it was a good time and they enjoyed the experience. I now remember why we don't fish at home!
We decided to do some fun things, too, like making pottery. I went up to Canada on Friday morning to glaze it while Rich stayed and played in a tennis tournament.
Our pottery teacher, Michele. We started with pinch pots, then got to use the wheel. It was a great time!
Both kids enjoyed the pony rides.
Time to learn about gardening. Doesn't food come from the store?
The many faces of Aidan. What fun activities!
That's our Molly. She won't turn down an opportunity to have her face painted. I predict lots of makeup in her future.
"Coffee" and television at the airport waiting for our flight home. What can be better?
They are really drinking chocolate milk, but wanting to look cool!
We all had a really active and fun vacation. We each got to do things we don't normally do at home. There were a few hits we would like to do again and a couple we might pass on next year. Just to let others have a chance, of course.
The adults are looking forward to: Tennis, kayaking, biking, archery and meals without kids! The kids are looking forward to: Swimming, biking, horse rides, fishing, seeing old friends and meals without parents!
