1: It started with our love, respect and commitment... Now, we are on a journey to start our family

2: Dear Expectant Parents, We respect the enormous decision you are facing as you try and find the best path for your future child. We are grateful for your brave decision to consider adoption and know you are looking for a family that will love and care for your child. A letter can only say so much but we hope that by telling you about ourselves we can help you learn who we are, why we are interested in adoption, and what that will mean for all of us. We are Christie and Weston. We have been married for 3 wonderful years and are looking to start our family. We met at college in the fall of 2006 when we ended up living across the hall from each other. We became great friends and Weston sneakily guaranteed we would keep in touch the next year by agreeing to store Christie’s belongings over the summer break. Shortly after that summer Weston asked Christie on their first date and we quickly became inseparable. Then, in 2009, after we had both graduated, we got married in Christie’s hometown of Honolulu. Christie was born on the island of Oahu. Her family quickly discovered that she had an enormous heart for animals of all kinds. She grew up hand-feeding injured baby birds, releasing mice from traps, and walking her bunny through the neighborhood. Her adventurous spirit led her to become the first in her family to leave the islands. She became a certified veterinary technician and worked in the field for several years before realizing her true path was in animal rescue. Although far from home Christie has learned to love the wide open spaces and abundant nature in Colorado. She especially likes having four seasons and enjoys the way the leaves change color to beautiful shades of gold and brown in the fall. She even appreciates the snow and remembers making her first snowman with Weston. Weston, on the other hand, has lived his life traveling around the other states. He was born in Tennessee but his family quickly moved to Colorado when he was 2 and then moved again to Texas when he was 3 and then again to Idaho when he was 11. Weston still distinctly remembers the blank stares he got when he first said “ya’ll” in the northern city of Boise.

3: His southern accent quickly disappearing, Weston discovered a passion for technology. While still in elementary school Weston stated he wanted to “make video games” when he grew up. When he left for college he didn’t have to give a second thought to what his major would be and he pursued a degree in computer science. Although he doesn’t work on video games exactly he loves his job and the challenges he gets to face every day. This job brought us to southern Colorado in 2011 where we found our dream home in the wide open spaces of the high plains. Now settled down we are both eagerly looking to the next stage of our lives as we begin our family. Although not actually infertile, we looked within ourselves and discovered that God was calling us to adoption. It just seemed like the natural way for us to grow our family and the more we learned the more we realized that we both have a heart for it. We look forward to working out an openness plan that everyone is comfortable with and believe that it is healthy and natural for a child to know their birthparents and their adoption story. We are looking forward to the joy of a child in our lives. Christie’s business operates from our home and she will be able to raise the baby full time. In addition, Weston’s work hours are very flexible and at his workplace it is customary for fathers with young children to work from home on Mondays and Fridays. We look forward to encouraging our child to find and pursue his dreams and can’t wait to see where life will take them. As this letter draws to a close we want to thank you again for taking the time to consider us as you work on your plan. We hope this letter gives you a glimpse into our lives and helps you to understand the life your child will have with us. We wish you all the best and pray you find God’s will as you make this challenging decision. God bless, Weston & Christie
