 You will be missed

Linda, retirement has come and I am thankful for this opportunity for you and Mike to have time to do things you want to. You will be missed, not just for the many jobs you filled but for your friendly manner. I know you will look back on your time in education with fond memories because you were instrumental on the success of many children. No matter what our elected officials do we know teaching is a calling. You did your part faithfully. You helped struggling readers, English language learners, as well as staff moral through the Sunshine committee (a committee of 1).Thanks for your friendship and come visit us. You are embarking on a new and exciting adventure. Enjoy every minute. Love ya, Pam

L - leading others by sharing her expertise and experiences I - inspiring with her calm, reserved, and professional demeanor N - never to be forgotten at Chisum Elementary D - dedicated to helping kids overcome obstacles A - always willing to help out when needed | Linda, Thank you doesn't seem adequate to express my gratitude for all that you have done for the students and staff of Chisum ISD. You have been an inspiration and role model for so many of us over the years. I have admired your calm reserve even when under pressure and especially how you never seemed to allow challenging situations to overcome your realistic perspective. Your ability to work with active first graders and help them focus on difficult days with a "never let them see you sweat" attitude is remarkable. You always seem to have an inner peace and joy about you that I wish I had more of. Your presence and expertise will be sorely missed around here, but I congratulate you on a job very well done and hope that your retirement journey is fun and relaxing. Wendy Ruthart "A teacher affects eternity, she can never tell where her influence stops." Henry Adams

I remember you teaching kindergarten in the first room, on the first wing, at our new Chisum Elementary. It was much better than having twenty or more kindergarteners in a building away from the first Chisum building. What a memory! I know I can remember some of the students in your room that year. When you did get your room in Chisum Elementary School, your room was filled with interesting and attractive learning items. I can also remember you having a small daughter and son at your side. You had a beautiful home in Honey Grove when I first met you. I also remember Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls for some reason. I'm so thrilled to have counted you as a dear friend as our children grew to adults, mothers and fathers, and citizens of Texas. Thank you, Linda for making our Sunshine Committee work so well and for all you have done for our school district. Enjoy your retirement. Rest and be ready to keep up with your husband's music and your grandchildren’s special times. Keep setting your great example and continue to let your light shine! Lynda Zant

Linda, You were always so patient and kind when you taught kindergarten. My nephews and niece loved you so much as their kindergarten teacher that they wanted you to be their teacher all the way through high school! You have always been a good and thoughtful friend. When my mother was sick, you sent her a get well card. That meant so much to both of us. You have also been a great representative of the "Sunshine Committee." You always picked out meaningful gifts and cards that suited the occasion. I pray that you and Mike will have many happy, healthy years of retirement and get to spend a lot of time with those sweet grandchildren. Kaye Boren

"Life is not measured by the breathes you take, but the moments that take your breathe away." May you have many of those moments on your new adventure! Shannon Hooge | I have always been touched by your ability to take care of others without needing recognition. You have left so many gifts for others that have made their day more than you know. Thank you for all the care and attention you gave to making us feel special! Jennifer Sikes

Mrs. Linda Erwin, Congratulations with starting a new chapter of your life. You will be greatly missed in the Chisum hallways. I have always looked up to you and been amazed at the impact you have on our students' success. Thank you for always offering a friendly smile and helpful advice. I remember my first day at Chisum you welcomed me and made me feel comfortable. You invited me to lunch with your group and truly made an effort to get to know me. I have been blessed with the opportunity to get to know you and work with you. I wish you the best with your future plans and hope to stay in touch! Sincerely, Angie Parker

Hope you and Mike enjoy your retirement. Be sure to post on FaceBook pictures of all of the fabulous places you will visit. Most of all - enjoy all of those grandbabies! Cheryl Roddy | Linda, You will be missed. Enjoy your retirement. "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." — Mark Twain Katherine Cass

It has been a pleasure working with you. I will miss you walking briskly down the hall. I know you will probably keep busy, but take a well deserved break and relax. Enjoy your retirement! Love you! Barbara Forrest | "Don't follow your dreams; chase them!" Enjoy chasing your dreams! Cindy Kennedy

Well Linda, the day you thought would never get here, finally arrived. I am so jealous. Don’t forget to carry your Reading Recovery prompts with you, you can never tell when you might need then. As you spend time relaxing, I know you will be thinking about the “behind the glass” lessons that you will be missing so dearly. You have worn so many hats over the years because everyone just knew jobs would get done with you in charge. As Reading Recovery teachers, we always worked in close quarters as we divided our tiny room into thirds and made it work. We problem solved behind the closed door, not always about students, however we knew what was said in that tiny room, stayed in that tiny room. I can’t imagine what it will be like not passing you in the halls or seeing you in the lounge. Just know you are a true friend and enjoy every minute of your retirement years. Love, Sheena

Best Wishes on your Retirement!! Enjoy those grandkids! I will miss you and all your help next year! God Bless You Both Always! 23: "For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." Many blessings to you in your retirement! Dianna Holt and Lori Daughtery

It is impossible to know the depths of the impact you have had on the lives of your students, co-workers, and communities in your career as an educator. But the count is high. You have helped and touched so many, that we are all grateful for your legacy.

We are your Chisum Family, and you will forever be a part of our hearts and halls. That we will miss is not enough to express how much your presence and special touch will be missed. We send you off with our blessings, prayers, and expectations that you will continue to keep us in your heart as we keep you in ours.
