BC: The End and The Beginning...
FC: The Joy House by O'Dell Homes
This beautiful custom timberframed home was designed and built by O'Dell Homes for Richard and Nancy Robinson in Joy, Illinois 2011
First, the traditional framing was done to prepare the house for the timberframed midsection.
Then staging of the timbers began.....
As the beams and trusses were formed up, the crane began lifting them into their place in the center of the house.
The Timbers were an elegant puzzle revealing the final shape of the house.
After only two days the frame was ready to be closed in. The ceilings, siding, mechanicals, interior framing, drywall and fireplace were next.
Finishing details start to appear. Lights, plumbing, ballusters, sidewalks and driveways.
Trimming details around the timbers, cabinet installation, mantle and paint start to make the space complex and simple at the same time. The open feel of the great room is breath-taking.
Looking out from the loft, the rose window and timbers give the feeling of open spaces artistically created.
This home is dramatic and functional. The foyer hints to visitors of the grandeur beyond.
