BC: Designed by Candice Rountree Finished November 2011
2009 was a year full of adventure and exciting memories! After finishing the semester I spent two months in Europe with friends. I spent most of the summer at home with the family in CT. My senior year started in the fall, with Thanksgiving in Cleveland, and Christmas in Connecticut.
Clayton, Dad and I had some sledding adventures down the driveway!
This semester of nursing school we focused on two subjects: Labor & Delivery and Pediatrics. It was a rough 4 months, with a very heavy workload! Towards the end of the semester with Spring coming in, and thoughts toward our spring term abroad, we were all at our wits end. I decided to take out my frustrations in a creative manner: | At first I was afraid, I was petrified. Kept thinkin' I could never be a nurse, then I cried. I spent so many nights doing pathology trees, And I grew strong, I learned how to get along... with my instructors! Their tests are hard, And early clinicals, They kick me in the butt. I should have changed to MFHD, I should have married early, If I'd of known for just one second how hard nursing would be! | GO ON NOW GO!!! Walk out the door At 5am now, Cause you're in nursing school! Wait for just one second B-Y-U-C-O-N Did you think I'd crumble? Did you think I'd lay down and die? OH NO NOT I!!!!! I WILL SURVIVE! Oh, as long as I know how to change A dressing I'll be fine. I've got all my life to be, The nurse I want to be, I will survive, I will survive, NURSING SCHOOL!!!!!
C | O | L | O | R | S | Every Spring, the Hare Krishna Temple in Spanish Fork hosts a Holi Festival of Colors. It is a traditional Indian festival to welcome in Spring. It's a fun time throwing colored chalk around! | Jolysa Sedgwick and I after the festivities
 Zion National Park
A group of friends from my BYU ward decided we needed a break before the stress of finals started. We took a day trip down to Zions. Little did we know it was the beginning of a tradition to travel down as a group of friends every April and August for the next couple years! It's always a fun trip to look forward to! | We hiked some smaller trails and blazed into the freezing cold Narrows. The water was still snow melt-off from the winter and it was sooo cold, but so much fun! We enjoyed some good ol' In-N-Out after!
Study Abroad and Vacation in Europe
As much as I loved my time in Europe for two months, I missed my family. I spent the rest of the summer at home making memories with Dad, Mom, Clayton, Janelle and little Miss Julie.
I was the nurse on the New Haven Stake Pioneer Trek the week I got home. It was so fun to relive those memories and spend time with the youth. | Hosing off at the end of the week. | Me, Clayton, and Eric West taking a break. | Mom, Janelle and Julie came to meet us at the end. She was happy to see Aunty!
Julie Joyce brings such a joy to all of our lives! She is a little bundle energy and I love spending time with her!
FAMILY | Dad and I went on a hike in the back woods of Killingworth | Grammy and Julie | Mom, Clayton and I after church one Sunday | Julie trying to learn to drink from a cup | KISSES!
Summertime fun with the family! | Dressed up for the Harry Potter premier | Mama and Julie | Diapers can make fashionable hats!
Palmyra Pageant | Kyra Malcarne, Jolysa Sedgwick, Me and Lauren Athay | It was a rainy weekend. Lauren and I played frisbee in the mud. We even had thunderstorms in the middle of the show! | NAP TIME!
 Cleveland and Kirtland
ZION | ZION | Angel's Landing has such a beautiful view!
Our trip back to Zions in August was so much fun! We hiked Angel's Landing the afternoon we arrived, had a camp-out that night with dutch oven peach cobbler, and mountain-man breakfast(MMM!). We hiked down the Narrows the next day. We didn't get too far because we found a swimming hole and played in it for a few hours instead of hiking upstream more. Such a great trip, with great people! | This water was made for jumping into! | )
Back to | Jolysa and I were Y-group leaders for New Student Orientation | A group of CT friends in UT, for a friend's wedding | Carving pumpkins for Halloween
School | Michelle and Heidi aka Venus and Serena | ESPN College Gameday came to Provo for the BYU vs. TCU game | FHE group
We went to dinner at Red Robin for Janelle's birthday! | Diggin' for gold | What chocolate chips? | Snugging with Gramps and Donald
After having such a fun filled sumer, I was particularly homesick, so I decided to spend Thanksgiving with my family in Cleveland. | Fun pictures after church!
 Newport Mansions at Christmas
HOME FOR CHRISTMAS!! Mom and Dad had a particularly busy season and hadn't gotten a Christmas tree by the time I got home from school. Dad and I went out on Christmas Eve to pick up a tree. Every place was closed! We went to the Killingworth Circle and picked up one of the Charile Brown trees leftover from the Lion's Club, but no one was there. We decorated our "stolen" tree on Christmas morning with our gifts.
Merry Christmas | Mom sent me this Christmas card in the mail while I was still in UT. It was perfect because that semester I was studying mental health nursing!
There's a funny story that goes along with this snow storm we had while I was home. Amy Tucker was my young women's president through much of my YW years. I shadowed her this night at the hospital. Since there was a surplus of nurses on the unit, they sent us home early. The catch was that it was Saturday night and the plows hadn't hit the roads yet. We were driving home from New Haven at midnight with about 8 inches of snow! What an adventure! Dad had to come rescue us in his 4-wheel drive SUV because Amy's little sedan couldn't quite handle the snow. It was a little scary but we all made it home alive!
