S: Stukenbroeker Family 2010
BC: ...The End
Wow! 2010 was a very busy year! We traveled a lot, went to lots of family functions and events as well as lots of 'firsts' for our kids. We took, literally, thousands of pictures this year. Unfortunately, we didn't have any formal family pictures done, but the volume of the rest of the pictures makes up for that!
 Flynn's First Hair Cut | February 6, 2010
Road Trip to Las Vegas, Nevada March 7, 2010 - March 12, 2010
Robert and I are big 311 fans. Every two years we travel to wherever in the U.S. that the band is playing on 3/11 day. In 2010, the concert was in Las Vegas, NV. | Fly? Why?! We would have missed out on tons of cool sights along the way that no plane could have taken us to see. Our first stop was mile marker 311, for obvious reasons, in Oklahoma. | Taking the famous Route 66 to our destination was a must...until we reached an old dirt portion of Route 66 that had a large herd of cows resting on it. Time to get back on the highway. | Day 1 - March 7, 2010 Oklahoma
We decided to stop in Amarillo, Texas and spend the night after driving all day on the 7th. The morning of March 8th, I wanted to see some touristy stuff. After waking up and having Texas shaped waffles at the La Quinta, we stopped at the The Helium Centennial Time Columns Monument. Our friend, Chris, came with us on our adventure. | Day 2 - March 8, 2010 - Amarillo Texas
The Cadillac Ranch was by far one of my most important stops. I'm big into photography and I really wanted to see these graffiti covered Cadillacs half-buried in a cattle ranch. We tried to get closer, but the mud was so deep we were sinking fast! | Along the highway there is an enormous cowboy. The picture does not do it justice. It can be seen for miles around and is the mascot of a Texas style restaurant and beef supply. | Day 2 - March 8, 2010 Amarillo, texas
New Mexico was the longest drive it seemed like. Miles and miles of desert and real life tumbleweeds and even some snow! We decided to stop and have lunch with my biological Grandmother, Yvonne, who lives in Albuquerque. | Day 2 - March 8, 2010 New Mexico
March 9, 2010 We finally arrived! We made it to Las Vegas shortly after midnight and got our second wind. We checked into our hotel , The Excalibur, and headed back out to explore! | Day 3 - March 9, 2010 Las Vegas, Nevada
The Luxor | Hard Rock Cafe | M&M's World | Caesar's Palace | House of Blues | New York, New York | Day 3 - March 9, 2010 Las Vegas, Nevada
Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville This place had enormous portions of food, margaritas that were perfect and the decor was fun! (Indoor margarita volcano!) We even got to keep our glasses and take our margaritas out onto the street with us! | Day 3 - march 9, 2010 las vegas, nevada
Flamingo Hotel | Inside the gardens of the Flamingo hotel there are gorgeous waterfalls, fountains and of course flamingos! | Day 3 - march 9, 2010 las vegas, nevada
The Shark Reef - The Mirage Hotel Walking through the shark tube was really awesome and seeing the sunken pirate ship environment that they live in was neat. I even got to pet Stingrays! | Day 4 - march 10, 2010 las vegas, nevada
Paris Hotel Robert and I went up in the replica of the Eiffel Tower on the absolute windiest night possible, the tower was swaying, it was cold but the view was breathtaking! | Day 4 - march 10, 2010 las vegas, nevada
The Beatles Lounge and Shoppes at The Mirage. Alyssa loves The Beatles and where else in the world are you going to find an entire casino floor dedicated to them!? | All you need is love | Day 4 - march 10, 2010 las vegas, nevada
The Venetian The Venetian is a beautiful hotel but we very quickly realized there was absolutely NOTHING inside this building that we could afford to do. Upscale, High Priced Shops and Attractions. Oh well, we got pictures! | Gondola's. The Gondoliers sang to their passengers. | Robert posing with silk lanterns. | The Year of the Tiger exhibit. | Day 4 - march 10, 2010 las vegas, nevada
The Hoover Dam and Nevada's Lake Meade | Day 5 - march 11, 2010 las vegas, nevada & Arizona
Coca Cola Store More Coca Cola memorabilia than you could shake a stick at. They pretty much have every single home decor item, including some furniture and lots of appliances, that are branded with Coca Cola. Bottles of soda here were all retro style and made of glass. | Day 5 - march 11, 2010 las vegas, nevada
M&M's World Every M&M Color and Type you could think of! They even had an M&M Maze with a slide that went down three floors. | Day 5 - march 11, 2010 las vegas, nevada
 The Mirage | 311.. | Day 5 - march 11, 2010 las vegas, nevada
Kelly came to visit us in Vegas. We checked out of the Excalibur and she put us all up in a nice room at the MGM Grand. We had so much fun - went to a comedy show inside Planet Hollywood. | Outside of Treasure Island Hotel & Casino there is a pirate ship and performers put on a big show for all of the people on the boardwalk, complete with explosions, singing, dancing and diving! | Day 6 - march 12, 2010 las vegas, nevada
Alyssa's first time ice skating ever! | 3.27.10
April 2, 2010: Being our first Spring in our new house we started to notice all of these pretty plants popping up for the first time. Japanese Magnolia tree is a favorite!
Every year Aunt Marilouise sets up a huge Easter egg hunt for all of the kids in the family. This year was a little challenging for us as Flynn insisted on sprinting away from all adults and heading towards scary geese and threatening to jump in the lake. Rhiannon cared more about the money in the plastic eggs than all the candy! | 4.4.10
5.4.10 | Rhiannon turned six this year and we celebrated on the weekend of the 4th. Where has the time gone? She wanted a flower cake for her birthday, so Aunt Emily made her a whole field of flowers in the form of little individual cakes decorated like flowers. We barbecued out back, tossed a football around, had margaritas and beer and enjoyed lots of cake. Rhiannon's favorite gift by far was her Nintendo DS.
May 6, 2010 Rhiannon graduates Kindergarten. Every year it gets a little bit harder to believe that our first born child is growing at an alarming rate and time is truly passing faster than we can blink. We are both so proud of Rhiannon and the presentation put on by her school was a tear jerker and the kids were adorable. Congratulations, Rhiannon! P.S. How cool is it that you graduated Kindergarten on your 6th birthday?

Downtown Galena is historic and charming, lots of neat little boutiques and great food! | Fried Green Tomatoes - one of my favorite movies!..but also a restaurant here!
Long Hollow Point Inn | This is the lodge we stayed at. It was very charming and had a lot of amenities. We played ping-pong in the rec room, went swimming and even had a jacuzzi tub with a fireplace that could be accessed from both sides of the wall. We had a private deck and an enormous comfy bed.
Home of Ulysses S. Grant We took a brief grounds tour of the Ulysses S. Grant house, it sat atop a tall hill in Galena that overlooked downtown. There was a servant's house outside with a "wishing spittoon" and we tossed coins and got one in!
Galena Cellars | 5/31/2010 | The wine here was delicious. It was like we stepped out of Illinois and into Napa Valley. The vineyards rolled on for miles and we got a formal tour and learned about different types of wine and how they were all made. We LOVED the Daffodil wine and the Sangria.
Little Tokyo - Downtown Galena Sushi here was delicious! Next time we go we are going to try the sake, apparently its popular!
