January 2011 started out a bit rough with lots of sickness. The worst was the week of coughing until throwing up which always ended up all over mom or in one instance all over his new car seat, needless to say we bought a new one. By the end of the month we started to see a light at the end of this long winter and even got outside a few days to enjoy some nice 40 degree weather!
Dad is still working out in vernal Monday through Thursday so Friday's are of course our favorite day. Luke and dad cruise in the truck on errands and it is by far their favorite thing to do. Dad even spoils Luke with happy meals! His first toy was a little tractor truck. Luke also likes to bring you books to read, throw right handed and eat pretzels.Mom is continuing to grow and is now 28 weeks, weight gain about 15 pounds, and starting to feel pretty good.
February | A funny memory of Luke is one day while I was in the bathroom he went upstairs took out a plug cover came back down and handed it to me and said uh oh... then we went back upstairs so he could put it back in the plug. At Luke's 15 month check-up he weighed 20.5 lbs and 30 inches long, still a little guy! | Luke is such a busy body... he loves to get down on his belly to take a closer look at his toys and crawls backwards to be silly. He loves playing in his crib with all is stuffed animals and books.
For Valentines Luke and I made Dad a package full of goodies and a frog stuffed animal. Dad wasn't supposed to do anything but he surprised me with an ipod in my wedding ring box! I was relieved it was that and not a ring... can't wait to use my ipod to get back in shape! Luke got his first basketball hoop that Dad and I enjoy just as mush as him!
March | March is full of baby prep and fun. Above is Luke's big boy bed and a picture of Luke sticking his face in the hole where the ball pops out, he loves to see how things work. To the left is Shawn and his cool fort he built, five minutes later Luke tore it down. Luke got his first ear infection, leading to an allergic reaction to Amoxicillin, followed by a sinus infection, we're so glad to finally see him feeling better before baby #2 comes!
Shawn and I decided to go to Las Vegas last minute to watch the MWC basketball tournament. Jimmer and BYU were so fun to watch! 35 weeks pregnant and driving was hard but at least I didn't go into labor!
Mom couldn't wait any longer to meet you so she took castor oil Friday night(4.8.11) and much to her surprise it made her extremely sick but worked! 2 am Saturday morning she woke up with contractions every 2 minutes. After straightening her hair, folding laundry, and making the bed we headed to the hospital. Already dilated to a 5 at check in we called Grandma to come and didn't think it would be long. | Crew Shawn 4.9.11 7lbs 4oz 20in
By 8:30am I was ready to push but had to wait for the doctor, 40 minutes later and no doctor we settled for another who was making rounds. 2 pushes later you were born at 9:11 am! | You cried and cried then immediately latched on to eat! I was so relieved you were a great nurser. We stayed one night but couldn't wait to get home to start our new life as a family of 4!
Crew is awesome at breast feeding and likes to eat every 2-3 hours. He only cries when he's naked and when he's ready to eat he just grunts/whimpers at me. Twice a day he'll just be wide awake for two or three hours, its always nice when he doesn't do this in the middle of the night! Luke has adjusted awesome so far, he cares just enough to acknowledge his brother but thats about it. Luke will give him a kiss and point out his hands and nose, every once in a while he bops him or tries to "share" with him so we have to watch him closely but you can tell he sincerely loves his brother. So far so good but definitely hard mostly because I am so tired.Love my boys.
 10 Days Old | 10 Days Old
Dad's cousin Candace took your newborn photos and we wanted to do some brother pics too but Luke did not like that idea at all. You pooped and peed all over the blanket but other than that you did great!
Luke's discovered a whole new world above him, he knows where the sky and clouds are, where airplanes are, and he's reaching for door handles and anything else that is just barely out of reach. Crew is gaining on him quick a whopping 12lbs! Mom got spoiled for mother's day with an ipod and a massage, so lucky!
Daddy did a great job blessing Crew to choose good friends, continue his education, serve an honorable mission, marry in the temple, and know that we love him so much!
June | Luke now says in a jumbled sort of way "right there" "another one" "ease (please)" "mmmm ma (grandma)" "all done" "uh oh here we go" and "mmm ore (more)" and still loves to say "uh oh" and "yuck". He loves trucks and loves to point those out to us, especially the red one that lives next door. He keeps getting more and more coordinated, independent, and silly. He loves to spin around and run on the hills. When I ask him if he's ready for a nap he grabs his blanket and walks to his bed | Crew continues to be a great eater and smiles tons and tries to tell us all sorts of stories. He rolls from his tummy to his back now and tolerates all the love Luke tries to give him pretty well. We started time outs for Luke when he hits Crew on purpose but for the most part the transition to two has been fairly easy!
July We moved! Though it wasn't planned when we started looking at renting something we found it would be way cheaper a month to just buy something... so here we are 174 W. Springview Dr. Saratoga Springs and we love love love it! I hope someday we can build a house here. Luke sleeps like a champ in his big boy bed, no problem, and Crew sleeps about 7 hours in his crib. Mom is trying to get the hang of refinishing furniture and dad continues to work so hard to provide for our family.
Luke is growing up so fast. He now poops in the corner and knows what he is doing so sometimes he sits on the big boy potty. Crew sleeps 10 hours which is so nice for mom and he rolls from back to tummy! Luke repeats everything you say and some of his favorites are "I did it!" "anen (amen)" "truck" "garbage" "see ya" and "oh no!" Daddy killed a 4 point opening weekend and mommy finished her first half marathon. Busy busy busy!
luke's first prayer crew sitting by himself onion days luke loves to sing songs, his favorite is head shoulders knees and toes, one day mom sang ABC's and Luke immediately ran and got his Elmo ABC book, how did he know that?! so smart! so sad the splash park is now closed but excited for fall!
one of luke's favorite past times is to play chase with crew, he loves when daddy and crew tackle him. crew love's it just as much or more than luke. luke's favorite book is goodnight moon, he loves to spot the real moon. when he hears the garbage truck coming he runs to the window to watch. he also loves to practice jumping. crewy is so close to scooting and just loves to watch his brother. he's not so much a chunker anymore dropping down to the 34th% down from the 55th% 2 months ago. Crew loves to eat solids and wants to just skip to the good stuff that we are eating.
crew scoots backwards and sideways no problem still hasn't quite figured out going forward. luke continues to love garbages and trucks. he has a toy garbage can that he loads up and dumps out all day long. he also loves to load up anything he can just to dump it in something else. that boy is going to be an engineer!
daddy was called into nursery with mommy. crew scoots forward but wont use his legs just inch worms. luke loves going to the church for mommy's work outs and collects garbage cans. he's bound to be an engineer loves to see how things work. favorite movie right now is up
