1: It was a great year filled with family, friends, celebrations and adventures! We traveled to Ocean Isle Beach and DisneyWorld and had many firsts including the kids first baseball game, first time flying a kite on the beach and Lucas' first swim lessons! | The Routh Family Adventures: 2014 | Mallory turned 5 this year and is the perfect mixture of sassy and sweet. She's a great helper at home and leader in her classroom. In her Pre-K2 class, she's learning to read and loves numbers. Some of Mallory's favorites: Movies: Frozen, Nightmare Before Christmas, Big Hero 6 TV: Paw Patrol, Scooby Doo, Sofia the First, The Brady Bunch Food: Pizza Toys: Scooter and LeapPad Books: An American Tail, Where's Waldo When I grow up: Mallory wants to be a teacher or an artist | Lucas turned 3 this year and while he tries to assert his independence at times, he's still the happiest kid -- always smiling. He's funny and sweet and Mallory's little sidekick. He also gives a killer hug. In his Pre-K1 class he's learning to recognize and write the ABCs. Some of Lucas' favorites: Movies: Frozen TV: Paw Patrol, Team UmiZoomi, Bubble Guppies Food: Mac and cheese, quesadilla, grilled cheese -- anything with cheese! Toys: Tractor, Marble Run, board games especially Princess Yahtzee and I Spy Eagle Eye Books: Hidden Pictures, Little Blue Truck

8: Valentine's Day snow! | On February 14, 2014, we had 15 inches of snow to play in!
14: "Tonight a baf night?" | I'm a big kid now! | On February 13, we began potty training Lucas. Within two days he was going like a pro. | Lucas' identify wall at school including a self portrait and color art | "Daddy, what for dinner?" | "i smell somefing"
16: American Visionary Art Museum | On February 28th, Mallory's class went on a field trip to the Visionary Art Museum. Her favorite part was the fun house mirror and fart exhibit!

26: After seeing and loving Frozen during the holidays, Mallory began asking for an Elsa plush. Lucas decided he wanted Anna. Since Christmas had just passed, we suggested she save her money and do some chores to help pay for the doll. She worked hard helping us around the house but like all Frozen merchandise, Elsa was sold out. For months, in fact. Meanwhile, the less scarce Anna plush finally became available online so we bought her and kept her hidden. Meanwhile, mommy checked the internet daily hoping Elsa would restock. Finally months later, an Elsa was located and quickly ordered. One night before bed, we introduced Anna and Elsa to Lucas and Mallory. They were so surprised and their smiles were well worth the wait!

30: Take me out to the ball game! | On April 13th, to celebrate mommy's birthday, we went to Mallory and Lucas' first baseball game. It was a sunny, warm day for ice cream, games and rides. The kids loved meeting the Frederick Keys mascot!

55: Daddy and the kids spoiled Mommy on Mother's Day 2014! The day started with yummy chocolate chip muffins. Then the kids washed the van followed by their own car.

75: The kids were huge fans of steamed crab legs and shrimp! Mallory ate more than anyone else.
87: Throughout the week, we enjoyed the ocean, pool, ice cream, mini golf, and feeding the turtles. We all had a great time!

105: Lucas chose Red Robin for his special birthday dinner. When we got home, we surprised him with his new tractor and it was love at first sight.

134: The Star Spangled Spectacular in Baltimore featured a performance by the Blue Angels. The kids loved it!

138: Mallory's birthday celebration started the day before with a special birthday circle at school where Mommy read a favorite book and Mallory shared her "all about me" poster. The poster featured pictures of all of her favorites including Scooby Doo, Frozen, Paw Patrol, Disneyworld, pizza, and her cats Molly and Roxy. The day of Mallory's birthday, we went to Dunkin Donuts in our pajamas and after setting up for her party, had lunch at Red Robin. Then it was home for a Frozen themed birthday party in the September heat!
145: Disney World, Sept 27 - Oct 4
146: Mallory and Lucas experienced the Norway ride, Maelstrom, for the first and last time as the ride closed for good just days after we rode. They loved the ride and playing with the viking hats in the gift shop. Other highlights included the Imagination pavilion and character meetings. In particular, the conversation the kids had with Aladdin and Jasmine was priceless. After a day exploring, we had a pre-birthday dinner at The Coral Reef restaurant and ended the night watching the Illuminations fireworks show. | Epcot | Our first full day of the trip was Sunday, September 28th. We spent the entire day at Epcot. | In fact, we were at the park before rope drop and left after Illuminations as the park was closing.

152: Hollywood Studios | Our second full day was spent at Hollywood Studios. We rode Toy Story Midway Mania, met | tons of characters including Jake, Sofia, Buzz & Woody, and Wreck it Ralph. We also enjoyed Frozen family fun including the new Frozen sing-a-long and the kid's favorite activity of the day -- Wandering Oaken's Frozen Snowground, where we played in real snow in our flip flops! | Jake | Sofia

157: Magic Kingdom | Our third full day we visited the Magic Kingdom for a long, exciting day. We met tons of characters and rode some classic rides, including The Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, and Peter Pan's Flight. It rained most of the day but that didn't stop us from staying until close to enjoy the Main Street Electrical Parade, Celebrate the Magic, and Wishes fireworks! The parade and fireworks were the kids favorite part of the day.

163: On our fourth day, we took a break from the rides and had breakfast with Lilo and Stitch at O'hana at the Polynesian Resort. The food was fantastic and the kids participated in a parade around the restaurant. Later we went to Downtown Disney for some shopping and lunch. Mallory and Lucas really liked the Lego store. We ended the day with an evening walk across the lagoon to the Art of Animation resort for dinner and exploring the Cars area.
165: ANIMAL KINGDOM | We had a fantastic day at the Animal Kingdom on our fifth full day. We started with breakfast at the Tusker House with safari Mickey, Donald, and | Daisy. Next we checked out Kilimajaro Safari, and met a few characters including Dug and Russell from Up, Pocahontas, Baloo and King Louie. Daddy rode Mt. Everest a couple of times while we watched from afar. After, we saw the amazing Festival of the Lion King show, which Lucas slept through despite how loud it was. One of the highlights for the kids was collecting Wilderness Explorer stickers at various stations all over the park. It was a very hot day so we were excited to finish our afternoon riding Kali River Rapids. All four of us got soaked! It was the kids favorite attraction of the day.

171: Magic Kingdom | Our last full day was spent back at the Magic Kingdom where we spent most of the day in New Fantasyland. The kids gave hugs to Cinderella, Rapunzel, Ariel, Minnie, Daisy, Donald, Goofy, | Gaston, Tigger, Pooh, Peter Pan, and Tiana and Naveen. By far, their favorite meet and greet was with Anna and Elsa! We rode some of the kid's favorite rides including the Barnstormer and It's a Small World (two times). The highlight of the day was the afternoon Festival of Fantasy parade. We found a front row seat with a view of the huge, colorful floats and the castle to enjoy the parade.

183: As a Pre-K1 student, Lucas participates in "letter circle" and imaginative play in the classroom great room. He enjoys learning new songs and sings at home nonstop. | As a Pre-K2 student, Mallory has become very interested in the art center and brings home new pictures almost daily. She continues to show interest in the writing center at school and is a leader among her classmates. Her favorite lesson of the week is when the Spanish teacher visits.

201: We had a great Thanksgiving at our home with the Shegogues, Rouths, and Myers. Dinner was delicious and after dessert, Lucas serenaded us with his harmonica. Everyone was impressed with his talent! So thankful for family! | Happy Thanksgiving

206: Elf Night! | We had the opportunity to volunteer with AOL at the Salvation Army for their 'elf night'. We helped to sort donated gifts and stuff hundreds of boxes full of toys. Mallory enjoyed giving back so much she asked to volunteer again next year. | Mallory carefully wrote her wishlist for Santa which included a house for her Barbies, a Where's Waldo book, and a Baymax plush. She also helped Lucas by writing his list. Lucas asked for Magna-tiles, a truck book, and also a Baymax plush. | Letters to Santa!
207: As usual, the kids loved making our annual gingerbread house. Lucas ate more candy than he put on the house.
