is for June | June was a unique character because her personality varied all through out the story. Also in the beginning, she has different attitudes towards different characters. | "But she's white August," said June | June is in love with Neil but refuses to accept his marriage proposal for most of the novel.

is for Killing Bugs | May taught Lily's mom to lead bugs out of the house instead of killing them; which intern helps LIly discover that her mother stayed at the Boatwright house. | Instead of actually killing the bugs, May uses graham crackers the lead the bugs outside to prevent them from being killed.

is for Lily | LIly is the main character in the story. She also has been through many changes and experiences in her life but learns how to handle them through out this book. | “‘You [T-Ray] don’t scare me,’ I repeated, louder this time. A brazen feeling had broken loose in me, a daring something that had been locked up in my chest”

is for May | "A worker bee weighs more than a flower pedal, but she can fly with a load heavier than her. But she only lives for five weeks. Sometimes not feeling is the only way you can survive." | During the story, May is depressed due to her twin sister's death when she was younger. Then towards the end, she commits suicide because she found out that Zach was in jail.

It is very important to everyone.

is for Photo | Lily's photo of her mom is something she cherishes and holds very dearly. Photos in the story are also essential because without the photo of the Black Mary she never would have found the Boatwright to begin with. | I looked down at the picture, then closed my eyes. I figured May must've made it to heaven and explained to my mother about the sign I wanted. -Lily pg 276
