BC: Family means everything to us, and we are so lucky that we get to spend so much time with everyone. Whether it is playing at the lake, taking trips together, or just doing simple things, we know that these are memories we are making each and every day. | We look forward to the day when we can see our family grow and can show your child the love that we feel every day from our friends and family.
FC: Chris, Shannon and Alex
We are amazed at the strength and courage you have to be considering an adoption plan for your precious child. Having been touched once by the gift of adoption, we know that God has a plan for every life and we are excited to think that our paths are crossing now and could forever be connected. The love and respect that we feel for Alex's birthmother continues to grow, and it is such a blessing to share our lives with her and for Alex to know how loved he is by so many people. Our hope for you is that you find peace in your journey and that the following information will give you a glimpse into our lives!
After meeting shortly after college, we became friends and then quickly realized that we had fallen for each other. We were married in the fall of 1995 and after 15 years of marriage we are still happy, have a ton of fun, and are anxious to add another child to our family. | Wedding Day | Christmas Fun | Dancing the Night Away | Skiing in Utah | Fall Tennis Season | Sept. 30, 1995 | Mother's Day 2010 | GA Aquarium 2011
Like so many couples, we tried starting a family first on our own, but after years of struggle and loss, we realized that our strong desire to be parents became more important than the biological journey. Having always been open to adoption, we went down that path which led us to our first miracle baby, Alex. Our lives were changed by this gift and not a day goes by that we aren't thankful for being given the chance to become parents. | There is nothing better than sharing your love and life with your best friend, and then to add a child to our lives has brought us even closer. We love each other more than we ever thought possible, and the good and bad times over the years have challenged us but made us stronger as individuals and in our marriage. We are excited about what the future might hold for us and our family! | Alex, Age 6
Some of our favorite activities are traveling and playing sports of all kinds. There is nothing better than a trip to the beach where we can play tennis and golf, and enjoy time with our family and friends. We have been blessed to share our interests with Alex and see his passions start to develop. He loves to play sports and try new things, and we will expose your child to the same fun we share as a family and know our joy will be increased immensely by having another child with us. | Toy Story ride at Hollywood Studios | Atlanta Snow 2011 | Beach Trip with Family | Although many of our activities center around Alex and doing family things together, we are lucky to have close friends and family who will care for him so we can sneak away for date nights and long weekends. We love going to movies, and spending time with our friends without the kids! We know that the best thing we can do for Alex and any other child that may come to us is to love each other and keep our marriage a priority.
Although we love to stay busy and play a lot, some of our cherished moments come in the quiet times at our home. Reading books with Alex, taking walks in the neighborhood, bedtime prayers, and family dinners to name a few. Each night we pray as a family for the next child that will join us, and for the birthparent(s) who will give us our next miracle. Now that you know a little about our family life, here are some additional thoughts about us, our extended family, and our faith. | Some friends that we share a lot of time with and love our family! | Alex and Maddie | Alex and Ben | 15th Anniversary Trip September 2010
About my wife, Shannon (by Chris)... Shannon is my best friend. She is the warmest and friendliest person I know. Her outgoing personality was one of the first traits that attracted me to her. Shannon enjoys being active. She's an accomplished volleyball and tennis player. Her favorite places are the beach and anywhere outside! Another interest that has grown into a small business is making and decorating cakes. She has done lots of cakes for kids' birthdays, showers, and special events. I've been most proud of watching Shannon grow into a fantastic mother for Alex over the last 6 years. She's patient and nurturing, and loves teaching him new things and she is a natural at it! Over the last 2 years she has been able to stay home with Alex, and with him in school now she has gone back to work at a job which will give her lots of flexibility to work from and schedule hours around school and activities. I love being together with Shannon and Alex. We are a fun, loving family and look forward to welcoming a new baby into our home. | ALTA tennis team | Girls night with tennis buddies | Spring 2011 | Just clowning around...
About my husband, Chris (by Shannon)... Chris is the greatest man I've ever met. He is funny, trustworthy, faithful, loving and a devoted husband and father. I knew the day I met him that we would be married some day and share a wonderful life together. Although Chris enjoys his work and has done very well, his real passions lie with his family, sports and music. Chris is an avid golfer, loves to play tennis and has done several road races. Snow skiing and wakeboarding are other favorite activties he enjoys doing with our family. Another of his talents is in playing music. He loves to play the guitar and drums, and it is fun watching he and Alex have their "jam sessions" together! Even though we share a lot of laughs and enjoy our activities, Chris is attentive to the needs of our family. The love I feel for him has grown even stronger by seeing him become a wonderful father to Alex, and to share in his desire for another child to be added to our family. | Playing on our tennis team | Disney Vacation 2010 | Wakeboarding at the lake | Sprint Triathlon in SC
About our son, Alex... | What a blessing from God! Alex is 6 years old and has a wonderful personality. He enjoys playing all sports, coloring, reading, playing guitar and just being silly. Alex has lots of friends at Kindergarten and in our neighborhood and church, but tells us all the time how he wants to be a big brother. We took Alex to Disneyworld last year for the first time and he tells us often that he wants to go back so he can show his little brother or sister all the magic. What a loving child he is! As parents, we have been very open with Alex about his adoption and are proud to tell him about his birthmother and the wonderful gift she gave us. We know over the years he will have lots of questions, and we will make sure he knows how loved he is by his birth family and will do the same with your child. It will be another bond that Alex and his brother/sister willl share and be able to discuss as they grow up.
Like most kids, Alex loves animals, playing with his friends, and trying new things. He is very active, but has a sweet spirit about him. We like being able to share these things about him with his birthmother and know how much it means to her to know how well he is doing. | Spend the night party with friends; Soccer season; reading his wish list with Santa! | Tennis camp; petting a horse in Hilton Head, SC; Baseball season 2011
We have been blessed to have come from stable, loving homes. Shannon's parents (Joyce and Horace) have been married for 48 years! They are both retired and spend a lot of time spoiling the grandkids and enjoying their freedom. She has one older sister (Sharon) who is married to a great man (Joe) and they have 4 children (Riley, Cooper, Mason and Ivy). Sharon and Joe were married 6 months after us so we all celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary last fall. Joe was adopted as an infant, so he will be a great resource for our kids as they get older and have questions that they may not want to ask us. Although they did not have trouble having children, they were sensitive to our struggles and love Alex as if he were their own! | The whole gang at Easter 2011 | Nana & Papa at Alex's baseball game | Chris, Shannon, Alex with Nana & Papa | Nana & Alex at the circus | Cooper (10) Alex (6) | Ivy (3) | Mason (7) | Riley (12) | Shannon's Family
Since we only live about 45 minutes from each other, we spend a lot of time with Sharon and Joe and the kids. We have a family tradition of going to the circus, Braves games, GT football games, and other events every year. The kids love to play, and it is fun creating memories with them and watching them grow up together. A favorite activity we share is Sunday lunch together at Nana and Papa's house each week after church. | Alex & Mason "scarecrows" | Halloween 2010 | Chris and Joe | Shannon and Sharon | Joe and Sharon
Chris' parents (Cathy and Gary) have been married for 42 years! They have "semi-retired" and live on the lake which is a central meeting place for all of the family. Chris inherited his Dad's love of golf and has shared it with Alex! He has a younger sister (Ann) who is married to Tim and they have 2 children (Brody and Logan). He also has a younger brother (Mike) who is getting married to Brandy in September 2011! | Beach Vacation 2010 | Mike & Brandy | Tim & Ann | Alex & Brody | Brody & Logan | Grandma, Grandpa & Alex at Disney 2010 | Chris' Family
Both of our families are very close and we share lots of visits, vacations, holidays, and birthdays. ACC football is another thing we share, and attend games each fall. Although we don't live in the same state, we get together often and are creating memories to cherish. | Alex & Logan 2011
We live in a 4 bedroom home with a basement and fenced in back yard. It is a great location which gives us quick trips to the city for all kinds of fun events. Our neighborhood has 2 pools, 5 tennis courts, a beautiful clubhouse, and is loaded with kids of all ages. We have many friends in our neighborhood and everyone is looking forward to welcoming another child and sharing in that joy. Alex has lots of friends in our neighborhood and goes to school with several of them too! It is a fun group of people who genuinely care about each other and look out for one another. | Our Home... | Neighborhood Easter Party | Sledding with neighbor friends | Soccer friends from the neighborhood
Another blessing we enjoy is to be part of a loving supportive church. There are lots of kids, and we have cherished watching Alex grow and develop in his faith thus far. This group of Christians has prayed for our family and for the birth families of not only Alex, but the next child that will enter our life. That has given us strength during times of both sadness and unbelievable joy. | and our Church. | Part of our church playground, and some of the kids! | Cookout with the kids at a Pumpkin Patch | Before the Fall Festival | 4th of July cookout with family and church friends
We love hanging out with our friends at the pool, at football games, and playing Wii in our bonus room. So much fun to share all of this with Alex and his friends. | Alex has grown up with Ben (on the left) and Maddie and Samantha are neighbors and also go to the same school as Alex. He calls them his "girls"! | Alex does fun things with Andrew and Evan (to the left) and this was from our trip to see Disney's Toy Story on Ice. Waker and Alex play both soccer and baseball together.
As important as it is for Alex to have lots of friends in his life, we know it is just as important for us. The friends we have are part of lives and also share in many of our experiences. They support us, lift us up, and pray for us and our family. Even though we are richly blessed with an amazing family, there is a great comfort knowing these friends will be there and love us and our children for many years to come. | Shannon and Melissa Friends since college! | Volleyball teammates from college. 4/30/11 | Alex and friends from Kindergarten 2010 | Chris and Alex Monster Jam 2011 | Our house at Halloween 2010
We fully understand the responsibility of raising a child, and would love the chance to meet and learn more about you. It is our prayer that if you choose us, you will find comfort in knowing that your child will be well cared for, loved immensely, and will know that you showed great love and courage in making this decision.
