1: Let the Journey Begin!! Alanta > Chicago > Anchorage > Kodiak = 14 hours but it was worth it to see Erin & Justin
2: We had a lovely stay in Kodiak at the Channel View Bed and Breakfast with innkeepers, Ron and Mary. Mary is the 5th generation of her family to be born and raised on Kodiak. Her great-grandfather was a pioneer of early days on the Island.
4: Our first morning on Kodiak starts with a hike around Northend Park.
5: Later, we get a tour of the US Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak and the USS Spar.
6: The next day we had good weather and gorgeous scenery as we hiked Fort Abercrombie State Park
8: Fishing for Halibut & Salmon with Justin and Kevin Kramer off Chiniak Point
9: A gourmet dinner cruise with the kids off Kodiak on the Sea Breeze - A wonderful last evening in Kodiak.
10: Adventure fills our last day as the Griswold's Go Trekking!! | 2 ATV's and 20 miles across the mountains to Saltry Cove, an isolated wilderness area on the Pacific Ocean before our late flight out.
12: On to Seward and the Kenai Peninsula
13: We enjoy our stay at the Paddle Inn B&B in Seward.
14: Exploring Kenai Fjords National Park
16: The Alaska Range Tundra in full Fall color Denali National Park
18: We team up with our pilot Andy for an encounter with Mt. McKinley
22: We make the 91 mile trek back from Kantishna on a US Park Service bus.
24: The fall colors in Denali are peaking as we depart on September 3rd.
25: Back to Anchorage and the long flight back to Georgia and civilization with wonderful memories of the Last Frontier - and it truly is.
