23: lindsey thompson | Lindsey excelled this year in science and the arts. Her favorite part of class was when she got to dissect a frog and learn all about the anatomy of amphibians. In art class, she learned how to use a potter’s wheel and made a matching bowl and plate set. She also led the class in a fundraiser to help children with leukemia. Lindsey is an important part of this school and she will be missed as she moves on to University of Oregon. | class of 2014 | Lindsey's Thanks: To Mom and Dad: Thanks for always being there for me, helping me succeed both emotionally and with my studies. 24: sports | This year the Cougars made it all the way to the state championships! | El Dorado had no shortage of stars this year! | We grew together as a team this year and really succeeded in developing our sports skills. Go Cougars! | Practice makes perfect...We formed bonds this year as teammates and as friends!
25: We worked really hard this year on teamwork and developing our dribbling and free throws. | The team did an amazing job working on advancing their skills, and we have the trophy from the state championship to prove it! | Teamwork is the essence of forming lasting bonds | The school spirit was nothing short of palpable all year. Our hearts and minds were in the game, and we stayed focused at every turn.
27: The musically talented among us kept busy keeping the beat for a great year. Music education was a big part of our year. Students were educated in various instruments, including the piano, violin, viola, cello, guitar, electric bass, and voice. We had two concerts this year, in the fall and spring. These provide students with performance experience and build confidence. This year we focused on classic foundational music and ended the year with a rock and roll music festival, where our students showed their classmates their wide range of musical talents.
28: clubs | MATH | SCIENCE | This year four of our students, Jane Smith, Emmy Garcia, John Thomson, and Carl Kipton competed in the school district science bowl competition. Seven schools competed and this was filmed and broadcasted on local television. | This year, the math club competed in national and local competitions. We held practice sessions where we discussed problem-solving techniques not typically taught in school. To celebrate our success, we all went to the Museum of Science and Math to learn more about these subjects.
29: DRAMA | The dance club met twice a week to go over the technique and history of dance. This year we studied ballet, jazz, hip-hop, and modern dance. We participated in a performance at the local city center, where we had an amazing time. | Likeminded students took after school clubs to new heights this year. | The photography club helps students form an appreciation for the art of photography. The areas we studied this year included portrait nature photography, street photography, sports photography, and digital editing and enhancing. | HONOR SOCIETY | PHOTOGRAPHY
30: prom | The formal dance theme this year was “Stars and Magic.” We transformed our gym into a magical dance floor with a disco ball, hanging star decorations, and a wide array of catered snacks and desserts. | We had a live band play all our favorite songs and we danced the night away! There was a photo booth to take fun group photos and we had a section of arcade games brought in as well. There was fun to be had by all!
31: Fall Fling was a night to remember! Ours was the most magical Prom everbecause El Dorado students know how to rock out!
32: hanging out | We love hanging out with our friends, and this is a list of the things we love doing: going out to the movies, concerts, theme parks, hanging out at the mall, bowling, and playing video games.
33: At El Dorado, we work hardand we play hard. There’s nothing better than breaking loose at the end of the day to hang with our besties. Lots of new connections were made this year as students took on a bigger role in planting the on-campus garden and also helping with the local soup kitchen.
34: trends | This year we loved setting trends, from the latest clothing styles, hairstyles, and makeup to backpack and even gym shoes. This year we were all about: colorful, bright tops, skinny jeans, Chuck Taylor All Stars, TOMS shoes, cool ray-ban sunglasses, UGGS, Northface jackets, and any jewelry from Claire’s.
35: There was also no shortage of braces, bangs, boy bands and brightly colored espadrilles.
36: school spirit | We are El Dorado to the core! We are El Dorado, hear us roar! Everyone’s cheering for the home team! The stands were packed for every game and meet all year.
37: We had a varsity basketball game that week at we had 99% attendance, our best attendance record ever! Everyone wore school colors and we beat the Lions by 13 points! We had a new cheer that was practiced all week and it got the crowd excited to win!
