Many Ancient kingdoms originated in Nigeria, for example the Hausa, Bornu, Songhai, and Benin lived here. In colonial times the British ruled and controlled its vast natural resources and key geography for trade.
This is a picture of some so called "baboon men" in Abuja, Nigeria. | In Nigeria 60% of the people are living in poverty. So, of course the living conditions are usually poor and the land is both rural and urban, but on the bright side there is a 68% literacy rate and the birthrate is 40 births for every 1,000 people, and a not so good rate is about 96 deaths for every 1,000 live births.
Some more facts about Nigeria are that there is a 5.8% unemployment rate and a labor force that is 48,990,000 strong. Some jobs that people have to earn a living is telecommunication services, although there is low pay and long hours it is still 1 of the most targeted jobs. Also, some other jobs consist of being a farmer or nomad, or mining for resources like oil.
The living conditions in Nigeria are actually very mild and comfortable. The average temperature in Nigeria is only 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Most likely though it's still uncomfortable because if you live in poverty you probably worry about all those things like providing and making it through another day.
Nigeria is very rich in culture because they have many groups of people that call this place home. For e.g. the Yoruba's are more of highly educated people that, when greeting an elder, you usually bow or something because they are more noble than you, but the Igbo are traders/business men and they do that no matter how it is because that's the way they were raised. The Hausa people are cool people until provoked and they usually carry daggers to protect themselves also they are usually nomadic Muslims.
Nigeria's resources are plentiful and to add to that their location is awesome for trading things. Some of their resources are natural gas, petroleum, oil, forestry, crops. They also lead the country in producing cocoa, palm oil, peanuts, rubber, and tin. Their most precious resource is oil and that is what the economy is based on now.
So, finally the countries greatest problem is their government/economy because all of the military leaders and such have ruined the economy and now they government system is corrupt. One reason is the poor accountability in the government. Now as they try to end the corruption they are adding Anti-corruption units.
This what's happening in my country I hope you learned a thing or two.
