FC: Las Vegas | Trip with Friends | February 25-28, 2010

Since Scott and some of our friends turned the Big "40" this year, we thought it would be fun to spend a weekend in Las Vegas to celebrate such a "special" birthday. We flew out on aThursday and came back on Sunday which made for a real quick trip but we definitely made it worth while.. We did a little walking on The Strip, walked through Madame Tussauds Wax Museum ,spent a lot of time down on Freemont Street near our hotel. We saw a couple of comedians and went to a Hypnotist, Anthony Cools , one evening.. Now let me tell you, that was quite interesting and funny to watch. Soooo thankful that neither one of us were on the stage that night! Could have been quite embarrassing for everybody I think. =) We did do a little bit of gambling in our hotel and down on Freemont Street but for the most part, we walked around Freemont Street a lot and found a nice little bar at the corner where we hung out and relaxed and did a little "people watching". :Las Vegas definitely draws in all sorts of people....very fun to see!

EL CORTEZ HOTEL Downtown Las Vegas

The bathroom | Our hotel was real fun and funky as you can see...bright green, black and white...very cool! | The hotel was a couple blocks from Freemont Street which was quite handy for us. | The wall opposite our bed.

The Freemont Street Experience | On our first night in Vegas, we spent most of it down on Freement Street. There is so much to see and do down there...lots of vendors, people painting, hotels, casinos, restaurants, sometimes live bands and of course the famous Freemont Street Experience or the light show. They set the show to some pretty great music and tons of people come out on the street and watch. Its a fun place!

Scott and Teresa Johansen | Kyle and Kristie Johnson | Brent and Vonnie Johnson | Tim and Jodi Thooft

Once we arrived in Vegas and checked into our hotel, we walked down to Freemont Street. We were there for quite a while but then some of our friends headed back to our hotel to do some gambling but Scott and I and Tim and Jodi decided to stay on Freemont Street for a bit longer. We had so much fun goofing around and the music during the Light Show was great! We had lots of laughs and were glad we stayed longer. It is amazing how late it can get in Vegas without you ever feeling like it is early morning. Lots of fun though!

We walked up and down the Vegas Strip one afternoon and had lunch at an outdoor restaurant. Across the street was Ceasar's Palace. We also stopped and watched the Fountains at The Bellagio. Really something to see...especially at night. The water show is set to music and is real pretty. | The Bellagio Hotel

The Eiffel Tower at the Paris Hotel Absolutely beautiful at night!

Scott & Teresa Brent & Vonnie Kyle & Kristie Tim & Jodi

`` | We stopped into the Paris Hotel and walked around for a bit. What a beautiful hotel to visit. There is a sky painted on the ceiling and there are lots of little shops along the way. You follow the river and there are men and women giving gondola rides and singing...you really can't help but feel like you are walking around the streets of Paris. Us girls agreed to take a gondola ride and ended up getting a nice man who sang to us. We had some good laughs together as we were guided along.

These were hanging from the ceiling in a wing of the Paris Hotel that we did not enter. I thought they were fun and pretty so snapped a picture quick!

We walked through Madam Tussaud's Wax Museum for a while and had a lot of fun taking some photos with "the stars" like Hugh Hefner, Johnny Depp, Cameron Diaz, Brad Pitt, Tiger Woods, Shaq, Prince and Elvis to name a few.

We walked by this neon light all the time on our way back to our hotel from Freemont Street

We found a fun little bar on the corner of Freemont Street which was close to our hotel. They played great music and it was so fun to just sit and have a beer and watch people walking by.

Well this has to be about the funniest story from our entire trip. We took a bus down to the Stratosphere Hotel so we could go to the top and see Vegas from above. Finally after a few stops, we made it to our destination...the Stratosphere. We all hop off the bus and are standing on the sidewalk. Kristie happens to ask "where the hell is the Stratosphere anyways". OMG, I thought we were all going to die laughing as we were all standing at the base of it. We told her to look up and yep, there it was right above us. See photo at left! OMG, sooooo funny! She may never live that one down. | DESTINATION: THE STRATOSPHERE

We Are On Top Of The World!!! Took the elevator ride to the top of the Stratosphere, had a drink and walked around outside on the viewing deck. It is such an amazing sight at night!

The Gang's all here! We are so very lucky to have such GREAT friends!!

This and That * Brent and Scott on the ride at the top of the Stratosphere..Scott said it was AWESOME! * Jodi and I with one of the comedians we saw * View of Vegas from inside the Stratosphere
