1: Roaring twenties | The roaring twenties was a time of prosperity and living. After the fears of world war 1 people thought that life was too short not to enjoy it. | A lot of things changed over the years. Women wore shorter dresses than usual. Plus the stocks were up so high and money was easy to come upon.
2: The Harlem Renaissance | The Harlem Renaissance was a cultural movement that spanned the 1920s and 1930s. At the time, it was known as the "New Negro Movement", named after the 1925 anthology by Alain Locke. Though it was centered in the Harlem neighborhood of New York City, many French-speaking black writers from African and Caribbean colonies who lived in Paris were also influenced by the Harlem Renaissance. | A major factor leading to the rise of the Harlem Renaissance was the migration of African-Americans to the northern cities. Between 1919 and 1926, large numbers of black Americans left their rural southern states homes to move to urban centers such as New York City, Chicago, and Washington, DC.
3: Culture Icons | Georgia O'Keeffe is an artist known for urban scenes and later paintings of the southwest. She is known as a cultural icon of the 1920s. | Louis Armstrong was also known as a cultural icon during the 1920s. He was a instrumental idol that played jazz music.
4: The great migration | The great migration was a time when a lot of African Americans move to northern cities. They wanted to get away from all of the discrimination and other challenges. | Even when they reached the northern cities they still faced discrimination. Plus it was still hard to find a job.
5: Communication | In the 1920s communication was advancing fast. One of the advances was the radio. | Another invention was the telephone. It allowed people to talk to other people without having to travel long distances.
6: 1920s Transportation. | In the 1920s Henry ford introduced the first automobile. The first automobile had a lot of problems such as starting it. | In the 1920s the first airplane was introduced by the wright bros. Usually an airplane would be unsteady though.
7: Electric Appliances | A lot of electric appliances were invented later on in the 1920s. This picture right here shows an electric water pump. | Electric lighting was a good thing to have in your house back then. It helps you see around your house at night.
