17: Mom and Dad, As your oldest child, I would like to thank you for being such responsible parents at such a young age. These days it is unheard of for twenty-eight year-olds to have four kids and still remain together after more than forty years. I'm sorry for all the anguish I caused you in my teenage years. Thank you for always being there - both emotionally and even physically when I needed it. I love and admire both of you beyond words. Love, Kristin

19: Mom and Dad, I feel very blessed to have you as my parents. Dad – I remember sitting on your lap when you got home. I know how hard you worked because of the many cuts and abrasions on your hands which stood out even more when you put that bright orange antiseptic on them. I also remember you dropping off the ’66 Mustang at my work washed, waxed, detailed, new speakers, full tank, all for my “first date” at 16 years old. And thank you for standing up to my narrow-minded JV basketball coach in Texas. Mom – thank you for singing to me and scratching my back to help me fall asleep when I was young. Like Dad, you worked so hard to provide for our family - Tupperware, cleaning houses, singing telegrams, coupons, garage sales. We were always well fed, well dressed, and most importantly loved. I was so fortunate to have you as my seminary teacher for 3 of my 4 years. That was a huge part of my spiritual preparedness for my mission and for life. | Gavyn & Grandpa 2009 | Dylan & Grandpa 2009 | Congratulations on 41 years of marriage! You are such good examples to me of commitment, generosity, self-reliance, wisdom and unconditional love. I love you - Brett

21: Mom and Dad, With three kids of my own, I'm beginning to understand how difficult it can be to raise and care for children patiently and lovingly. I know that I was a handful growing up and that I probably pushed you both to your limits of sanity on many occasions but I am grateful for the patience and love that you displayed in allowing me to live! I have many fond memories of you both growing up. One of the earliest involved the bottom of a swimming pool, swallowing lots of water, and being pulled to the surface by Dad, right before you both mashed on my belly to release the 2 gallons of water I ingested - thanks for saving my life! It means a lot that you spent so much time traveling with me to wrestling meets and baseball games; in fact, I can't remember a time when you weren't there. I literally feared for my life when I wrecked the van 3 WEEKS after my first accident, but you both were patient and loving when I know it must have been difficult. Now, as I am approaching 10 years of marriage with three kids, I continue to rely upon you both for guidance, wisdom and advice, and you have never let me down. Congratulations on a long and happy marriage! I love you, Kelly

23: Mom and Dad, What can I say, but thank you! Dad, thank you for always being there for me. When I was little, you traveled so much for work but you were always still “there” through letters, phone calls and little gifts to show that you were thinking of us. You made so many sacrifices for our family. My appreciation for you has grown as I have developed a relationship with you as an adult. I don’t think a single week of my mission went by without an email from you, letting me know you loved me – that meant so much to me. I will always treasure the memories of skiing with you, sailing in Greece or simply sitting around the kitchen table enjoying one of your steaks on a Sunday afternoon. Mom, thank you for always making me feel special and for having confidence in me. Growing up, I was always happy to just be around you, whether we were delivering Avon orders or going to clean houses. You have always been there to listen to me and give me advice, even when I pretended not to need it! Thank you for tirelessly driving me to dance and gymnastics practice, for staying up late to help me with school projects, and for continuing to come to my aid when life gets busy and stressful. Your example of hard work, service, and dedication to our family has taught me more than I can express. | Finally, thank you both for spending forty-one years together building our family and providing us with a loving home. I couldn’t have asked for better parents! I love you, Kari | 1998 | 2006
