1: After 5 months of trying to get pregnant the day finally came! I was one week late and told Colt that it was time to take a test. We took the first cheap little test that had a faint little line. We got excited. but didn't want to get too excited. We took another test and it was positive again!! We hugged and cried. We were finally starting our family!!
2: It didn't take us long to want to tell the family! | We went and had our shirts made so that we could tell everyone.
3: We told our parents first. We went to each of them and told them we had new shirts we wanted to show them. We opened our shirts at the same time and let them read them. The were so excited! It was time to tell everyone else a few weeks later. We told everyone mom needed to take a family photo. We were trying to capture the moment. When the timer was about to go off we yelled, "WE ARE HAVING A BABY!" As my family would. they smiled right through the picture. Then after, they said no you aren't. They finally looked at our shirts and everyone was SO excited! My mom brought cookies so that everyone could guess what the sex of the baby was! Good day!

46: One week before we were due we went to the doctor and she decided that she would induce me on Monday October 10th. We were so excited. Saturday the 8th I was having some contractions and was leaking. We went into the hospital, got admitted, then were sent home on a false alarm. Sunday morning I woke up at 9 with contractions that were strong and 10 minutes apart. Colt and I read some books, watched a show, and talked, anything to keep my mind off of the contractions. At about 2 we called the hospital because my contractions were about 4 to 5 minutes apart. They told us to come in!! We were just hoping that they wouldn't send us home. When we arrived at the hospital I was in a lot of pain. They told us that we needed to walk around the hospital for an hour and a half to try to get more dilated. The walk was really hard on me. Colt was a champ and followed me around being so supportive. After the hour and a half I got checked and was dilated to a 4. This was the real thing! They weren't ready for me to have the epidural so I went for another walk. By this point I was in SO much pain. When my mom finally came my contractions were about 2 minutes apart. When the nurse came in I was in tears and my mom said, "She is in pain, its time for the epidural." The nurse just said "okay" I was grateful that my mom was there! When the Anesthesiologist came in Colt had ran to go eat something, I wasn't about to wait, so my mom held my hand through the epidural. It didn't hurt as much as I would have thought. I didn't care much for the burning sensation, and the popping noise freaked me out, but other than that I was so happy that I was finally going to be relieved of the pain. I felt bad that when Colt came back in that he had missed it, but not bad enough to have waited! ha ha After the pain had ceased I was happy as a clam. (Yes a clam, not a clown like I have always thought the saying went.) I could finally have conversations with all the family that was waiting there. My mom, dad, Floyd, Nephi, Hayley, Eldon, Chase, Tila, and Tony came in and chatted for awhile. Finally around 2:00 AM I was at a 10 and we were ready to start pushing. The baby's heart rate was dropping a bit.
47: My doctor was sick so another doctor came in. They got me ready and I started pushing. 1..2..3..4..5 the doctors face seemed concerned 6...7..8..9..10 He didn't say anything. The said "okay Tori push again" 1..2..3..4 He looked more and more concerned... 5...6...7..8..9..10. The doctor stood up and said "Okay Tori we need to get you into the operating room, the babies heart rate isn't looking good. It is dropping and not coming back up, I'm sorry but you need a C-Section." I remember just nodding, knowing that it was what was needed. Tears came to my eyes knowing that I had come this far and wasn't going to be able to experience a natural birth my baby being put on my chest. Nursed and the anesthesiologist came in and gave me more anesthesia. Colt stroked my head and gave me a kiss and I was wheeled off. In the operating room I couldn't help but be nervous. They picked me up and flopped me on the operating table. It seemed like forever as they prepped me. I just wanted Colt to be there with me holding my hand. Finally he came in and they got started. The pressure was intense as they opened me up. I felt nauseous, pain, anxiety, and numb. Colt sat down next to me stroking my head and holding my hand. I told him to look, but he didn't want too. Finally I they pulled the baby out. I told Colt to go to him. It felt like an eternity waiting for his cry. He had pooped while still in the womb so they didn't want him to breathe it in, but then when they wanted him to breathe he still wouldn't. They put a little oxygen mask on him and finally I heard his cry. I was relieved. The Anesthesiologist told me that he had dark hair and how beautiful he was. He talked me through it while Colt was with the baby. It was finally time to see my baby boy! We named him Eli Koloti Johnson and he was born October 10, 2012 at 3:05 am. Colt brought him over to me and and I finally got to see his sweet face. The next few days in the hospital were hard ones, but I loved waking up knowing that I had a beautiful new baby to see.
51: ELI KOLOTI JOHNSON
57: It was finally time to go home! We drove very carefully home from the hospital. As soon as we got in the house, Colt showed Eli around the house. We gave him his first bath the next day & he LOVED it! He is such a blessing and we are so happy to have him in our lives!
58: The first couple days were an adventure. We snuggled Eli a lot and loved every minute! | Eli Loves the water and could have stayed under the tap ALL day long.
60: This year was one of the best of our lives. Being pregnant was such an amazing experience. The way that a woman's body prepares to bring a child into the world is such an incredible thing. Colt was so great in helping me. He was so supportive and excited. I will never forget the first time that Colt felt Eli kick. I was 18 weeks and Colt had his hand on my belly. He felt the kick, teared up and we both sat in awe of how amazing it was. I am so blessed to have Colt and Eli in my life. They are my happy place . I can't wait for forever.
61: There are a lot of things in this world that can make you happy but there is nothing that matches the feeling of becoming a new father. Tori did so well with the pregnancy and birth of Eli. I couldn't have ever asked for a better wife and mother to our first son. 'Men are that they might have joy' and they are my joy. My appreciation is great for the two most amazing blessings of my life. I never thought love for another person could grow greater than the day before.
