In dedication to my family for giving me the inspiration and empowerment to write this short story
Baby Tiger sat quietly on the bed, when Chelsey burst into the room and scooped Baby Tiger into her open arms.
“I looovvveee you sooo much!” she screamed into Baby Tiger’s ear as she swayed him in her arms.
After which she placed Baby Tiger gently on her pillow. “I’ll be right back!” she told Baby Tiger.
Baby Tiger sat quietly on the bed waiting and watching as Chelsey left the room.
When there was no one sight, Baby Tiger sat up from the pillow and quietly said to himself, “I think I will explore today.”
Baby Tiger scooted to the edge of the bed and closed his eyes as he hopped to the floor. He fell with a quiet thud.
Baby Tiger stood up and straightened his fur. He was now ready for his adventure, but where was he going to go first?
Baby tiger decided to explore underneath the bed, especially since he heard monsters hid beneath the bed.
Baby Tiger bumbled along, under the bed skirt, and found himself surrounded by darkness.
When Baby Tiger’s eyes adjusted to the darkness he noticed a few lonely socks, a tissue, and Chelsey’s strawberry blankie, but no monsters.
Baby Tiger finished exploring underneath the bed and decided to peek his head out into Chelsey’s room. Chelsey had not returned yet.
Just when he was about to scoot out from underneath the bed, Chelsey skipped into the room.
She immediately noticed that Baby Tiger was no longer sitting on his pillow! “Robert!” she cried at the top of her lungs to her big brother. “WHERE IS BABY TIGERNOW!!!!”
Robert replied, “I don’t know where you stupid tiger is!” “MOM!” yelled Chelsey. “Robert hid Baby Tiger.” “No I didn’t” argued Robert.
“Chelsey, let's look in your room first before you blame your brother for taking Baby Tiger” said her mom.
“FINE!” Chelsey said as she stamped her feet.
They looked and looked and looked, but they couldn’t find Baby Tiger anywhere in Chelsey’s room. “Let’s check the rest of the house too Chelsey” said her mom.
At this point Chelsey was almost in tears and finally she began sobbing.
Baby Tiger heard Chelsey crying and decided to poke his tail out from beneath the bed.
Her mom told her “Alright Chelsey, it is getting rather late and we will have to find Baby Tiger Tomorrow. It is time for you to get ready for bed and tucked in”
Chelsey was still sniffling but she listened to her mom and brushed her teeth, put on her pajamas, and crawled into bed.
Her mom tucked her in and her father kissed her cheek and just before they turned out the lights, her mom noticed a small striped tail poking out from beneath the bed.
She walked over to the small tail and pulled at it gently, and sure enough Baby Tiger slid from beneath the bed.
Chelsey had already started drifting into sleep and her mom carefully put Baby Tiger into her arms and said to her “It looks like Baby Tiger just went on a little adventure.” Baby tiger smiled and snuggled even deeper into Chelsey’s little arms.
