This book is dedicated to all the pandas in the world.
There once was a Giant Panda named Paul. He lived in a coniferous forest in central China. He had fur that was white with some black spots. He was a big panda. He was 3ft tall when kneeling and weighed 250 pounds. He lived alone in a private part of his forest.
He remembered a time when he lived with his mom. He had been a little pink panda at the time like all the other baby pandas. His mom also was 3ft tall, but she only weighed 220 pounds. She was considered a big female panda. They used to climb bamboo together. They started at the smallest stalks, 5,000ft, and they progressed to the biggest stalks, 10,000ft. One day his mother told him he had to leave since big pandas lived alone.
One day when he went to his bamboo tree a human came up to him.The human grabbed Paul and marked him with a red band. The human wrote down something on a piece of paper, and she let Paul go.
The next day when Paul went to eat bamboo he noticed there were less stalks. The human captured him again, but she didn't mark him with anything. The human seemed sad and confused. Day after day Paul noticed there were less stalks of bamboo, and some days he was captured again.
One day after Paul ate a few stalks of bamboo, he climbed back down and bumped into another Giant Panda. He recognized the Giant Panda as Peter, another panda that lived in Paul's forest. "Paul," Peter said, "recently there has been a serious problem. Our population has decreased because we do not have enough bamboo and the death rate is higher than the birth rate. We must find a way to solve this problem."
Paul walked away confused. As he was walking the human captured him again. The human had a worried look and mumbled, "I knew it. The population of Giant Pandas has decreased drastically. This is all because we cut down too many of their bamboo. Central China is suffering a terrible loss." The human then let Paul go and walked away. | Oh no!
Paul was worried he quickly called Peter over and told him what he learned. "I don't know what we can do about this so we just have to store up food." Peter commented in a depressed tone. He then lumbered back into his section of the forest.
After days passed, Paul got weaker and weaker. He tried catching rodents, but he became so weak he almost never caught any. One day in his final effort to look for bamboo, a human captured him again, and took him somewhere. The human gave him some food. While Paul ate the food the human muttered, "We must stop the destruction of forests and bamboos. There are barely any surviving Giant Pandas." After Paul ate his fill, Paul was sent back to his forest.
If we all try to stop the cutting down of forests and bamboo, we can save our pandas and many other species. If we tried Paul, Peter, and all the other Pandas will live happily ever after.
 The End
