S: Orlando Vacation 2009
FC: ORLANDO SEPTEMBER 13-20, 2009
Here we come! It was time for us to do Orlando with Rae, so away we went! Was it magical? We thought so.....
We left at before the sunrise (4am). Our travel buddies were the Lindsleys. We had originally planned to split the trip up in two days. The kids did such a great job traveling,we made it all in one day! That meant more time to spend at Disney Studios/MGM park.
Disney Studios This was our first stop. And the kids were super excited. They could hardly wait to get on the tram. Pictured: Jordan, Natalie, Alex Addison, Rae, Hayes, Riley. Shawn, Ben, Jennifer, Christy
Breakfast at the Crystal Palace This is our favorite place to eat. The food is so yummy every time we go. And who doesn't like Pooh and his gang?
The day at Magic Kingdom is about to begin!
Mickey's Parade on Main Street Great parade with all our favorites! And yes, that's mom dancing in the middle of Main Street USA!
Cinderella's Castle The first picture is the castle seen from Fantasy Land. In the second picture, I could only get Hayes to stand in front with me for a snapshot. Oh well, at least we're cute in it!
The Tea Cups | Ariel's Grotto (where Shawn lost his phone, not so magical) | Wish I had one of these at home (sigh) | I call this "Beautiful Girl on Carousel"
We had to take a picture of Rae on her first ride on DUMBO. And of course, it is so worth the 30 minute wait. (Can you be sarcastic in Fantasy Land?) | It's a Small World! A mandatory ride for our kids in Disney World. It's an icon. They must have it stuck in their heads for the next 10 years as I did when a child. Riley fought us on this one!
TOON TOWN Rae meets her "princesses" | There is something so magical about a little girl meeting a princess. This was priceless! She was totally enamored. She could hardly speak!
Here we are in Toon Town, having tea at Minnie Mouse's house. | Family picture in Minnie Mouse's gazebo
Dad and his gang chilling with ice cream on Main Street | The above pictures were taken in tomorrow land, home of our favorite ride, Buzz Lightyear. This is one of the rides that we rode over and over again. We discovered it last time we went to Disney. We were thrilled Rae loved it as much as we did.
Disney's Electric Parade | This parade may be the most impressive of all. There are millions of lights, all illuminating the way for our favorite characters. The night is charged with anticipation and excitement from all the spectators., including the McGregors.
We start the third day of our magical adventure in adventure land. Aladdin's carpet ride (above) the adventurers right outside the park before the day begins (below)
hanging with rafiki on the terrace | Mcgregor totem poles greet visitors as they enter adventure land. too bad the middle one is crooked... | can't leave adventure land without a picture with pirates! i had to get my picture taken as well. | Braids by peruvian women. the girls had to have their hair braided. it lasted two weeks! They looked way cool.
Frontier Land | Land of great roller coasters. Land where Riley was able to see his hero, Goofy. We also visited the Hall of Presidents for the"educational" aspect of the trip. Since we went during the school year, it was required that some educational experience was needed for an excused absence. Thanks, George!
These pictures were taken right before a princess show at Cinderella's castle. Below is one of my favorite pictures from the trip. Love Rae's expression!
Dinner with Cinderella- Grand Floridian We dined with Cinderella and her dysfunctional family. The step sisters and the evil step mother were perfect! The food was not so perfect. But we did have one on one with Cinderella and Prince Charming. What girl doesn't want to be with Prince Charming?
Before we left the Magic Kingdom for the day, we were able to see a few more of our favorite Disney characters. My favorite was Mary Poppins. She was so wonderful to the kids. I guess she really is "practically perfect in every way"
Universal Studios-Day 4 The older kids really loved Universal. They surprised us, as well as themselves, by riding huge roller coasters. HULK, anyone? Our best treat was hanging out with Mr. Phil, who lives near Universal. Shawn finally had a buddy to ride with him!
Every action hero you would care to meet was waiting for us at Universal. Spider Man was the friendliest, who seemed quite amused with Rae. He spent more time with her than any of us. Riley was super excited to meet all his heroes: Wolverine, Captain America, and Spiderman, just to name a few.
Hey, is it the man in the yellow hat? I'm just curious.... | With Shaggy and Scooby | The Kid Zone, where Rae rode her first roller coaster, Woody Woodpecker. | Dr. Suess ride, One Fish, Two Fish (one of Hayes' favorite books when she was little.) | Oh yeah, It's DORA!
EPCOT VACATION DAY 5 | CANADA Our first stop | ITALY That's amore! | FRANCE Princess meets Princess | Going to Epcot was one of my favorite days. Getting a taste of difference cultures is always a treat. It was also a special day because we went with the Lindsleys and were also able to see the Wilsons, who were also vacationing there during the same week.
(top l to r) Jen and I (France); Naomi and Hayes; Hayes, Jasmine, and Natalie(Morocco); Rae and Eden; (bottom left) Riley (another one of my favorite pictures)
SPLISH | SPLASH | Liki Tiki Liki Tiki was our resort, compliments of Aunt Lisa. It was known for its water "park on site. The water slide was a big hit with the entire family. | Thumbs up after the first trip through the slide. | Rae catching rays.
 BRING IT BABY!
Walt Disney World Village The best store was the Lego store. There were some amazing figures built with Legos. I think the shark should be Riley's next project.
Outside the restaurant where we ate with Phil on the last night. It was delicious! Family and friends are the best way to share a meal. | Queen Hayes trying to look all LEGO-like. Rae stayed sacked out during our shopping. The last day took its toil.
