18: May 4th, 2012 Dear Simaya, It is hard to believe that you will be celebrating your 4th birthday this year! Time has passed so quickly, as it feels it was just yesterday that we brought you home for the very first time. As brand new parents, we had no idea what to expect. There were no books, classes or websites that had all the right answers or could have fully prepared us for this experience. Thanks to your daily lessons, we have learned so much during this life chapter that is called "parenthood". When you were first born, your Papa gave you your very first bath. It was at that moment, that Mama realized he would forever love his little girl, whom we named Simaya Rae Jesswani. During your first few weeks at home, we must have taken hundreds of pictures of you. You were such a sweet little baby that slept through most of the night at only three weeks old! Your smile would brighten the room and your eyes would squint just so. Your Papa lovingly called you "chandani aankhey", which means "moon eyes" in Hindi. Your first year of childhood was filled with so many milestones. You were eating solid foods by four months. At nine months, you were crawling up a storm and within a few weeks, you were taking your first steps. For your first birthday, Mama made you a baby carrot cake. It was so much fun to see you dig in and enjoy your very first cake. It was quite a celebration! Thank you for showing us the beauty of life.
19: Your second year was just as exciting. You loved to explore and experience all that life had to offer. From animals and nature to rain and mud...you enjoyed it ALL! Everywhere we went, you my dear, were the life of the party. Thank you for teaching us to seize each day as if we were waking for the very first time. Your third year has taught us the most about patience. You are independent, curious, inquisitive, strong-willed and incredibly smart. It was in April 2011 that you began the Preschool Program at Appletree Christian Learning Center and it makes us so proud that you have learned so much...including how to use the potty like a big girl! Thank you for teaching us to never give up - even when life gets a little challenging. Simaya, we want you to know that we are so proud of you and that we love you very much. God has truly blessed us with the most beautiful of all his little angels and we look forward to spending the rest of our lives together. Love Always, Mama & Papa
