S: Lee & Jen's First Vacation
FC: St. Augustine, FL | March, 2011
1: America's oldest masonry fort, the Castillo de San Marcos ("Castle of St. Marks") has overlooked the waterfront of historic St. Augustine, Florida, for more than three hundred years. Never able to capture the massive Castillo de San Marcos by force, the British finally gained possession of the fort (and the rest of Florida) in 1763 by the treaty that ended the French and Indian War. Florida and the Castillo were returned to Spain at the end of the American Revolution. Florida became a territory of the United States in 1821 and the U.S. Army occupied Castillo de San Marcos, renaming it Fort Marion.
2: It's 5 o'clock somewhere!
3: Lunch at Mill Top Tavern
4: Taking in some of the sights!
9: This was our view on our tour boat. The water was so blue and clear. All the little sandbars were either occupied by wildlife or by people parking their boats to relax and layout.
10: This guy was stationed on the sidewalk with all his painting gear. Bike parked beside him, painting away. Too cool!
