2: A&M University | A&M is located in the city College Station. In 1876 A&M was established. A&M was the first institute of higher learning. There are more than 9,000 graduate students majoring in over 250 degree program. Any student can join any of the 800 activities. Any student can go on a world-class research program.
3: Beaumont | Beaumont, Texas is in the Coastal Plains Region. Beaumont was founded in 1835 by Henry Millard. The name Beaumont came from Henry Millard's wife, Mary Beaumont. In 1838 Beaumont was called prime lumber town because of the amount of lumber they produced. Beaumont is about 30 miles off of the Gulf of Mexico.
4: Longhorn Caverns | Longhorn Caverns is 645.62 acres long. The cave was formed when water levels began to drop. It has been used as a shelter since prehistoric times. Legends say that Sam Bass hid $2 million of stolen money. Gunpowder was made in the cave during the civil war.
5: Devils River | Flows toward the south 100 miles in to Sutton and Val Verde countries. The devils river is exactly 477 miles long. Its 55 miles from Del Rio, 200 miles from San Antonio and, 280 miles from Austin. The property around the river is privately owned so you can't trespass on to the land. If rain falls from 50 to 100 miles away a flash flood could quickly occur.
6: Enchanted Rock | Enchanted rock has a total of 7 miles of trails. Enchanted rock is about 1 billion years old. The surface changes because the rock that surrounds the granite makes weathering occur. Pink granite makes up all of enchanted rock, and its one of the oldest rocks in north America.
7: Frank Phillips College | Frank Phillips College is located in Borger, Texas. The college was founded in 1948. FPC's(Frank Phillips College) motto is "Go Here...Go anywhere". This college is a public college and you may go there more than two years but less than four.
8: Galveston | Galveston is known for its many attractions. Theres about 1500 historic buildings in Galveston according to the national Register of Historic Places. 50 miles south of Houston on the Gulf of Mexico is the Galveston Islands. The Galveston Island is an average of 2 miles in width and 32 miles length. On September 8, 1900 a hurricane struck Galveston with winds going 140 miles per hour.
9: Hill College | Hill College is located in College Station, Texas. Their core values are integrity, educational excellence, student success, respect, enthusiasm, and collaboration. Hill College goal is to have high quality educational programs. Hill College accepts any age it doesn't matter what gender or color you are.
10: International Museum of Art and Science | The International Museum of Art and Science is located in McAllen,Texas. International Museum of Art and Science's mission is to promote a deeper appreciation for the arts and sciences through its exhibitions, cultural events and more. The IMAS was chartered in 1967. On July 4, 1976 the museum was expanded by adding another building. Currently the IMAS is over 50,000 square feet.
11: Johnson Bottom | Johnson Bottom is a very well known Basin. This Basin is located in Gillespie County. The nearest major town near Johnson Bottom is Ingram, Texas. Johnson Bottom is in central Texas. The Basin is 30.1499275-latitude and 99.191155-longitude.
12: Kreische Brewery State Historic site | Kreische Brewery is located in La Grange, Texas. The size of the site is 40.4 acres. In 1977 around four acres was added and thirty-six more in 1977. In 1983, the site was finally completed.
13: Lake Austin | Lake Austin is located in Austin TX in the Westlake area.There are no alligators in this lake. There are alligator gars which are harmless. This Lake is always at a constant level
14: Midland | Midland is located in western Texas. This city is a retirement location for people who want to live in a safe environment. Midland has a lot of oil and gas.
15: Miller Spring Natural Center | This Natural Area is located in Belton, Texas. The length of this area is four miles long. Miller Springs Natural Center opened in 1989. It is in Bell county. It is free to the public.
16: Odessa | Odessa is southeast from Midland, Texas. Odessa was founded in 1881. When this city was founded it was a railroad town. It is very well known for their performing arts, attractions, and events. Odessa's best attraction is the Presidents Museum.
17: Pace Park and Salado Creek | Pace Park and Salado Creek is located in Salado ,Texas. It was founded in 1851. This park is 100 acres. In 1859 it was bought by a man named Stinnett. Through 1851 to 1868 eleven mills were built in the park.
18: Queen Isabel Historic Inn | This inn is located in Port Isabel, Texas. Queen Isabel Historic Inn is Rio Grande Valley's oldest resort. They offer one and two bedroom suites. There is easy access to beaches and South Padre Island. There is a nice relaxing pool that you can use.
19: Red River | The Red River is located on the border that separates Texas and Oklahoma. The River is called the Red River because of its red soil. The soil is located on the bottom of the river. The river is about 144 miles long. Many paddlers practice on the Red River and normally start around US highway 281.
20: Seminole Canyon | Seminole Canyon is located in Comstock, Texas. Seminole Canyon is 2172 acres long. This historic site was bought in 1973. The park finally opened in 1980. At this canyon you can hike, mountain bike, camp, historical study and more.
21: TCU | There are 100 undergraduate studies to choose from. TCU was listed 62nd among colleges and universities in the US by an endowment.Theres at least 1,200 graduates. There are about 1,825 employees. TCU was founded in 1873.
22: UT | UT was founded in 1883. There is approximately 51,000 students enrolled. The school mascot is Bevo the longhorn. There's around 24,000 staff members. 12,000 degrees are awarded yearly.
23: Volente Beach | Volente beach has water slides, pools, beach fronts, and volleyball courts. Its near the Lake Travis shores in Austin. The maximum capacity is 4,000. Volente beach is an outdoor and indoor water park. Its located in Leander, Texas.
24: Womens Museum | The building is 70000 square ft. The womens museum is located in Dallas Texas. It's associated with the Smithsonian Institution. People can go there to study women throughout history. On September 29th, 2000 the Womens Museum was officially open.
25: X.I.T. Historical Museum | The art gallery has newspapers from the 1800s. The X.I.T museum is located in Dalhart, Texas. Open from early morning to sundown. They provide museum education programs for children. Archives include old postcards from historic buildings.
26: Yorktown Historic Museum | This museum is located in Yorktown, Texas. They designed the inside to look like a 18th century home and an Indian settlement. It is open Sunday- Friday. In this museum you will learn about the life in the 17th and 18th century. Yorktown Historic Museum was founded in 1607.
27: Zilker Park | Zilker Park is a total of 351 acres. The Zilker holiday tree is 155 feet tall. Zilker Park is located in Austin, Texas. An annual kite festival occurs every year. In 1918 A.J. Zilker created what is now called Zilker Park.
