FC: Arizona August 12-19, 2011
1: Start Your Engines - The Road Trip Begins Dee & Kiel left Vancouver on 09Aug11 and traveled to Boise, Idaho before going on to Panguitch, Utah on 10Aug11. The next day they spent the day hiking at Bryce Canyon and then on to Zion Canyon. Momo & Papa & Wendy traveled from Estevan to Butte, Montana their first day and then met Dee & Kiel in Hurricane, Utah on 11Aug11.
2: We Arrived!!!! We arrived at The Ridge on Sedona Golf Course and prior to checking into Rooms 601 & 601P we were treated to an appetizer get together catered by a local caterer in town. Yum. Once we got the keys and entered our suites the rush from room to room began!!!

4: Up at 5a.m. to start Bell Rock Path. We ended up continuing on to Courthouse Butte Loop as well. | Experiencing the 3 Vortex's: Masculine, Feminine, Balance | 7 Miles - 2 hours 21 Minutes | Day 1 - August 13/11 | Our socks were stained red from the red soil.

6: Sedona, Arizona Downtown - Shopping Mecca | Chapel of the Holy Cross | Main Strip | Which one is not a statue????
7: Oak Creek Canyon | Day 2 begins as we arrive at the trail head at 08:30. The hike had beautiful scenery and many river crossings. We packed along our lunch and ate in the beautiful spot as seen above. | Auntie Wendy took a tumble (one of many on this trip!!!) | Natural Water Slide | Day 2 August 14/11

9: Oh Look, Day 3, August 15/11 and we are on another hike!! The Boynton Canyon Trail was one of the most scenic trails. We were still gung ho & were up at 5a.m. ready to hike by 6:45a.m. This was another area where you could be touched by the Vortex.
10: Mother & Child & perhaps a dog? | Close to 3 hours later we end our adventure | A bit strenuous,climbing boulders, etc but worth it. | ...or maybe a shepherd?
11: Day 4 - Aug 16/11- Hmm...who's missing at 6:45a.m? Seems like Momo & Papa took a pass on Coffee Pot Rock & Thunder Mtn. | There was no coffee in the pot!!

14: The Bags are packed! | Why is the moon out? Oh right, it's only 2:52A.M. | Where is this family going?........ | August 17/11
15: ....The GRAND CANYON for sunrise!!!!! | It was like someone was switching on spot lights. As the sun rose the canyon unveiled itself to us.
18: After finally figuring out the bus system we were on our way to Bright Angel Trail to start our hike. Momo & Papa would transfer to the "red" Line and continue up the canyon on the shuttle. | Papa wished he had booked the mule train!! | And off we merrily go..Destination..the first rest stop 2.6 km (1,131 ft) down the canyon. Oh right, we had to come back up the 2.6 km too!!! | Auntie Wendy was the official mule crier in our group. As soon as she'd see them she'd holler out: "The Mules are Coming, The Mules are Coming"
19: The trail was a series of switch backs which seemed to go on forever, especially coming back up. | Kiel was the 1st to return to the top-1hr18min, Wendy arrived 1 minute later & lagging last was Dee!!! Don't worry, she did make it!!!! No search party required. | Keeping Hydrated | Are we there yet? | Shade! | The first rest stop had water and washrooms (& lots of large aggressive squirrels!)
20: After a quick lunch the gang heads back to Sedona. | On top of the World-just watch your step! | The happy hikers. Fun but glad it's over!
21: A Blast from the Past in Cottonwood AZ. August 18/11 Instead of our usual a.m. hike we decided to spend our last day exploring Cottonwood. Before a nice lunch at The Tavern Grill, we spent several hours exploring Larry's Antique Shop. | Kiel's new hat -40's style | Momo loves her Ceiling Fans
22: Papa, Preparing for his steak!! | Kiel enjoyed the ribs | Cactus Fries? Yummy | August 18/11 | Our last night in Sedona. We enjoyed a nice dinner at 'THE COWBOY CLUB"
23: These plants were nice to look at but sure had a bite if you touched them! | The Yucca Plant - if you got off trail these plants could do some damage to your legs! | Tempting.... | We ran into this tree on the Boynton Canyon Trail | FLORA & FAUNA
