FC: Camping Trips in 2011

Our first camping trip this year was to Dutch Treat. It was a chilly weekend this year but it was still fun. Ran into a lot of people we use to see a lot of, so that made it really nice. Mel & Brenda Rus were there, so was Julie and Darryn Boetsma, we also saw Vern & Wanda Bohl. We talked to them several times as well. Dustin, Emillie and Addison were there. We love to go camping with them. R.J. stopped in for an afternoon also and that is always fun. This is a good place to take the trailer out for the first time of the year and it seems that is what they were all doing.

Emillie and I took Addison to the playground for a while but everything was wet and dirty so we didn't spend a lot of time there. Addison was having a good time though

Looks like someone is getting tired

She was really leaning into me. I was loving it

Catch the bubbles Addison. She had fun with that for awhile then she had to try to blow the bubbles. She was so cute.

Addison is playing washers with her Dad

Addison is hanging out with Grandma, walking talking and reading books | Picking up stones with Uncle R.J. Is he teaching her to throw the stones?

Went fishing for a couple of hours. Ray was the only one who caught a fish. This does not surprise me | Mel Rus with his Granddaughter Brylee

Ray making hobo pie's. He normally doesn't do very well so this is pressure for him to do this with people he doesn't know very well. He did an awesome job. Had to send a picture to Dustin. | I am so proud of you

Jason, Darryn, Julie, Mel and Me

We did a lot of bike riding this weekend. While camping at Tri Ponds, we rode to Sandy Pines to visit Scott & JoAnn Boeve. It was 90 degrees that day and the roads were hilly, so this was a hard ride. On Sunday we pulled the trailer home and took a bike ride from home to Dutch Treat where Dustin and Emillie were camping. It was still very hot out. R.J. rode with us. It was a good time.

Lakeview Campsite | This year we were not all able to be there at the same time. We got up there on Saturday August 20 R.J came up there on Sunday afternoon for a couple hours. On Monday afternoon Dustin, Emillie and Addison got there. It is really to bad that we could not all be there at the same time but we were thankful for the time that we did have with each one of the kids.

Ray walking down to the lake | The lake is dirty this year | Just goofing off. Ray is holding the camera

When R.J was there we rode bike to Hamlin Grocery and we played Boggle for a while too. This was a very nice afternoon. I am so glad he was able to come even if it was for a short time.

 Nice Fire Honey

Monday morning we rode bike to Fountain it was 11 miles away. It was a beautiful morning. On the way home it was windy and just a little harder ride back. We saw several deer that morning some wild turkeys and a woodchuck. For this background picture, Ray thought I was losing it. I ran around looking for a place to lay down to take this picture. It was almost to dark when I took this but I had fun making Ray wonder what I was doing.

 Playing with Addison

Making food and eating. This is what vacation is all about.

Addison is playing washers. She is very good, because she gets it in the tube almost every time. I like her on my team.

 Love this picture

Dustin and I acting weird. I think Dustin would say that it is not an act for me. | I sure do love this boy. He can still make me laugh.

On Tuesday morning my parents came to Ludington to visit us for the day. Dad, Emillie, Dustin, and Ray went golfing while Mom and I stayed at the campground and watched Addison. This was a very fun morning.

 Golfing

Some people come into our lives, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never the same. | To love and be loved is to feel the sun from both sides. | May the Lord continually bless you with heaven's blessings as well as with human joys. | I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers | David Viscott | Psalm 128z;5 | Philemon 1:4

 Addison with her Great Grandma

When they got back from golfing we played washers for a while. When Addison woke up we took a walk down to the water. Shortly after we got back to the camper, Dad and Mom left to go home. This was a very good day. I think everyone had a good time.

Mom is watching us play washers

God does notice us, and he watches over us. But it is usually through another person that he meets our needs. | Spencer W. Kimball

Time for a bike ride. Addison is making noise as we go over the bumps. She thinks it is fun. She catches on to things so fast.

Addison is saying: | Go! Go! Go | She is having fun riding on Grandpa's back. Grandpa is having fun listening to her laugh and telling him to GO

Shopping | Beach | Ice Cream | Ludington

Grandpa and Addison | Ray is taking these pictures by himself, he is good at that.

We went to the Ludington City Park to play on the playground and take these pictures. We were all having a good time. Addison loved running around in the sand.

Grandma and Grandpa going down the slide with Addison. Slides are not as fast as I thought they were when I was young. This was a cool slide.

Addison liked this slide. This slide was faster then the other ones. She just kept getting on. So much fun to see her having such a good time.

 Addison's footprints in the sand

More fun at the park | Addison did not like the teeter totter. She liked everything else.

Addison liked the fire truck. She really liked it when another little girl came to play on it with her. This has been a really fun afternoon.

Last of the pictures from the park

Snap Shots Sitting at the campfire, taking walks, fixing food, playing games. What an awesome few days.

Addison sat by the fire for a few minutes before going to bed on the last night we were there.

The storm is coming. We got to TriPonds on Thursday afternoon. Brenda came later that night. There is a high winds warning for Thursday night and Friday. It is raining and cold. Most everyone else came on Friday late afternoon including Dustin and Emillie. We sat in the trailer most of the day talking to Brenda. Glad I have my winter coat. | Tri Ponds | Brenda & Me | Brenda & Barret | Ray & Julie | Sept 29 - Oct 2, 2011

When Addison got there Ray and I played outside with her for a while. It started raining so we went into a play culvert to stay dry. Ray took a picture of us. Then he noticed a rainbow. It was beautiful. She has her mud boots on and winder coat and it is a good thing. It is wet and cold.

R.J. also joined us this weekend and that was great. This is everyone on Friday night. We don't know most of these people. It is very cold and it is hard for everyone to get warm by the fires. At least it stopped raining. We are hoping things dry up a little bit because Sat. is a Halloween fun filled day.

Ray and Addison having fun in Dustin and Emillie's trailer. She was laughing so hard. They were tipping over backwards over some blankets and she thought it was a lot of fun being partly upside down. I love listening to her laugh.

Saturday morning Addison came over to our trailer for a little while | She was talking and playing with my witches hat. | She is looking at the pictures and pointing to everyone, when you say their name.

On Saturday we carved a pumpkin. Addison was not real excited about this. She is a little young yet but it was fun. She did enjoy the other kids around her and she did help take out a couple of seeds. Emillie and I worked well together, I think we made a very nice looking pumpkin. I thought it looked very happy.

Eli, Ashley, Dustin, Ray, & R.J | Grandpa and Addison bouncing on the pillow. We are just having fun on the play ground

Campground Trick or Treat | Oct 1, 2011

More snap shots from the cold weekend at Tri Ponds. It was cold but it was fun. Sunday morning we made breakfast in our trailer. A small 22 ft trailer was full of people. It went very well and it tasted good. | Addison & R.J | Dustin, Eli, Ashley, Emillie & me

Normally on the day we are to go home from camping, we are up and packing up right away and out of the campground by 10:00 or 11:00 am. On this morning we made breakfast for the kids, then at 11:30 am we went with Dustin, Emillie, Addison, Eli and Ashley to Cranes Apple Orchard. They were not open until noon so that is why we had to wait. This was the nicest day of the weekend. We get there and I am going to take a group picture and find out that I had left my memory stick in my computer at the trailer. I was so bummed. Emillie let me use her camera.

Went to Ebys campground in Indiana with Diane and Patrick. This is the first time we have gone camping with them. This is a new motor home for them and the first time they have used it in a campground. Diane drove the motor home all the way to Indiana, she looked so small behind the wheel but she did an awesome job . After setting up we sat down for a while to relax. This is Thursday night Oct. 6, 2011

Later that afternoon we took a bike ride into Bristol, IN. it was about 5 miles away. Diane and Patrick had to pick up a part for the motor home. We then decided to ride around and check out the town. It was small so it didn't take long. This elk was standing in front of the museum.

The first night we made Hobo Pies. We all did a good job and they tasted really good. We also had smores

Wine Tasting | On Friday we rode our bikes to this wine tasting place. It was about 7 miles away. The last 2 miles were up hill, and that is no lie. It was gradual but it was up hill. Riding back into town was fun and fast.

We worked up an appetite after riding bike for 14 miles. We had steak on the grill, it was very good. We are having a good time. The weather is wonderful. It was in the 80's today and tomorrow should be the same,. sunny and 80.

We were making the perfect golden marshmallow. I have not roasted a marshmallow in many years. Ray has always done mine so this was scary for me. My marshmallow ended up on the ground. I was so bummed.

Enjoying our time around the fire. This is the part of camping I really like.

We went kayaking down the St. Joseph River. We rode our bikes 5 miles, then went down the river 8 miles. The weather was great and we were having a good time. On almost all the logs sticking out of the water turtles were also enjoying the weather. We then rode our bikes 5 miles back to the trailer. What a fun, busy day.

Saturday night we drove into Nappanee IN. We had a very busy day, so we decided to eat at Amish Acres. While there we did the wine tasting. It was late when we got there so we didn't get to see much but we had fun and the food was very good. Tomorrow we go home, this is the last camping trip for this year.

We had a good time camping this year. Look forward to next year.
