SCHEWE FAMILY REVIEW | It's been an adventuresome year for the Schewe family. We hope you enjoy our trip down memory lane.
RAVEN ROCK | Our family loves to go hiking over at Raven Rock State Park, here in Lillington, NC. The Boys LOVE climbing the rocks, running up and down the trails and just having a lot of fun. Here's to amazing family memories.
In February, Christian loved getting back onto the basketball court and helping his team get some points on the board. Right now, basketball tops his list of favorite sports to play. Dad's love of all sports has rubbed off on both boys. | CHRISTIAN #24
Gabe enjoyed playing Upward Basketball at Northwood Temple Church in Fayetteville, NC It looks like he could follow in Christian and Dad's footsteps with his basketball skills. | GABE #35 | UPWARD BASKETBALL
Cub Scouts Gabe participated in cub scouts for just a short season, but he loved the hands-on activities. Maybe he will get back into scouts someday, but for now, we have some pretty cool memories - and pictures.
We took full advantage of our 2 week vacation time to Ft. Myers, FL in April 2011. We had a chance to visit family, go kayaking, play mini-golf, see friends in Tampa, celebrate Rob's birthday, goof off in the pool and spend lots of quality time together. A great memory was hanging out at your house, feasting on a delicious steak dinner, listening to Rob and Rod play guitar together and just relaxing with family. We miss you!
The day we had been dreading finally arrived. But, like a good soldier, Rob was ready and prepared for this trip overseas. With Gabe as our photographer, we decided to take a few fun photos to make sure we captured a couple of smiles between the wet eyes. Rob's bag weighed in at almost 100 lbs so it wasn't an easy feat hoisting it onto Christa's back. Saying "see ya soon" for almost a year is tough to think about, so we decided to tell the Army to bring the boys home early. We will see if they listen.
Soon after we said our tearful goodbyes, the boys and mom packed our bags for the first of many East Cost adventures. Our destinations would be countless as we discovered how the little black Saturn would be our traveling companion for many miles and missions. We celebrated birthdays, trekked to Disney World, relaxed with family, traveled back in time to see battlefields at Gettysburg and George Washington's Estate, saw laws being voted on in the Capital in DC and stood right next to great white sharks and killer whales. Traveling is one of the best aspects of homeschooling!
Our first stop - Florida. We celebrated Christa's dad's 65th birthday at Disney World. Christa decided to take one for Team Schewe and do a ride along on the Richard Petty Driving Experience. What a RUSH. Afterwards, we enjoyed hitting the parks, going camping with friends and just hanging out and soaking up that FL sunshine. One of our favorite memories was watching Gabe catch a flounder while we camped at Ft. DeSoto State Park. | FLORIDA!
Michigan | Christian loved spending his 12th birthday back up in Michigan! We were so thankful to see Grandma and Grandpa Buzz before your move to FL. Uno's Pizza is out of this world and crazy thick! We love you Grandma!
Visiting the Polsdorfer's at the cottage was definitely a highlight of our Michigan trip. Climbing the ROCK, roasting marshmallows and hot dogs, night-time swims, jumping into the lake, playing cards until late at night ...laughter and fun filled our short time together. We love Family!
Operation New Dawn UPDATE | Here's a quick update on how I'm doing over here in Iraq, Mom. It's been awesome to Skype with you and let you know that I'm doing well. I enjoyed the first couple of months when I went to the range, played soccer with the Iraqi's, visited one of Saddam's old palaces, took boat rides on the Euphrates River and worked 24/7. Love you and see you soon!
Mount Vernon | Mount Vernon, George Washington's Estate, in VA, was absolutely beautiful! We visited the Distillery and Grist Mill as well as the Mansion. The boys loved seeing how cornmeal was ground up, whiskey was processed, horse dung was recycled, nails were hammered out, the "necessary" was used and where Washington's Tomb is located. What a fun adventure!
Our trip to DC was fast and furious! We found our way around using maps and buses, and logged miles in our sneakers and sandals. The Metro was a fun way to travel, and we saw so many historical sites: the White House, Capital, Lincoln Memorial, WWII Memorial, Smithsonian Museums, Arlington and so much more.
 Washington DC
Penn State University | Newsflash: PSU was a huge HIT! Score for a wonderful, sports-oriented campus tour. Even though we couldn't get into Beaver Stadium, we still enjoyed trekking all over these sprawling acres. WE ARE ... PENN STATE!
Gettysburg | When our bus broke down, the boys had fun with the muskets. | Civil War: Brother against Brother | Gabe loved the weapons cache. He wanted to bring home the canons. | In times of peace, brothers are forever friends. | Hey Grandma, look at us!
Team Schewe Scores Again! Gabe = Soccer Christian = Basketball This fall, Gabe played soccer for the Fayetteville Soccer Club and Christian is currently playing for the homeschool group, FAITH Warriors. Both boys shine in their individual sports! Go Team Schewe! | GO TEAM SCHEWE
We Love You! O magnify the LORD with me, And let us exalt His name together. ~Psalm 34:3~
