S: Day Trips To Seattle Summer 2011
At the end of July 2011, Nikki and her family took me to Seattle for a day of walking on the waterfront, through Pike Place and to have lunch at the Brazilian restaurant.
Natalie, 3, Annabelle, almost 6 months, and Nikki at the restaurant.
Things we saw--including the Hammering Man, , and a squid on the ceiling in Pike Place
Natalie was a real trooper and walked for a long time, but finally needed to sit and take a break!
Natalie sat with Ivar and me for the Pioneer summer reading program picture. We were reading her Aladdin book.
More waterfront sights | Natalie poses with a giant otter | Say Cheese
Dessert at the Hard Rock Cafe
Our server at the Hard Rock offered to take our picture, but he had to take one of himself first!
Less than a week later, August 5th, Jacie, Madi, Alex, and I went to Seattle to play tourist. | We rode the Sounder train with Mike as he went to work.
We left Mike at his building and walked to the tunnels where we rode the new light rail train to Westlake. We were all fascinated at the way the sections of the train bent going around corners and how we could look through the telescoping section as this happened.
Jacie treated us to breakfast at Starbucks, we did some window shopping and used the bathrooms at Old Navy, the only store that opens early in downtown Seattle, then waited to ride a Duck.
According to our driver, this is the first automated car wash--somewhere | We drove north on Aurora Way, over the bridge, on our way to Lake Union. You can see Madi's hair blowing and Alex closing his eyes in the wind.
Going into the waters of Lake Union
Alaska Crab Boats | Madi looks at the Crab Boats | The Space Needle and the Seattle skyline
 Gas Works Park
Sleepless in Seattle Houseboat | Madi and her quacker | Another Duck, passing us in the water
Back on dry land, we go past the EMP, Seattle Center, Sculpture Museum, the Edgewater and the waterfront, and Pioneer Square.
We met Mike for lunch at the Pike Place Brewery, them he took us to see the gum wall before we walked down to the waterfront where we saw our duck and Madi sat with Ivar.
Mike went back to work and we stood in line for a long time to go aboard this Naval ship. We saw the Blue Angels while we waited. They were in town for Seafair and the ship had come over from Hawaii for Seafair, too.
 Time to go home
