FC: The Cold War
US and the Soviet Union, 1940's - 1991 | The cold war is described as tensions between enemies, but not a full, complete war. The two superpowers didn't like each other because of the proxy wars. Which were when each superpower backed up a different side of the conflict. Both superpowers wanted to be one superpower and both emphasized their differences. | "I dislike the Soviet Union because we don't like Communism!" | ColdWarFlags.jpg
The idea of the Marshall plan was that communism was successful in countries with economic problems. The Truman Doctrine Stated that the US would provide money to countries threatened by Communist expansion. If the Soviets were not stopped in Greece, the Truman argument ran, then the US would have to face the spread of communism. | "We hate Communism, so we don't like the Truman Doctrine and Marshall Plan." | 220pxMarshall_Plan_poster
The US and the Soviet Union were involved in a growing arms race, in which both countries built up their armies and weapons.Nuclear weapons became increasingly destructive at this time. They believed that arsenal of nuclear weapons was gonna prevent war. MAD stands for Mutually Assured Destruction. 4: Vietnam War North and South Vietnam, and the US are the sides of the war.The split between North and South Korea and North Vietnam wanted to reunite South and Communism. North Vietnam won. This fits into the Truman Doctrine because it is fighting Communism. | "This is good because we don't like Communism!" | Vietnamwarsoldier.jpg
Tom and Jerry and the Cold War: Tom and Jerry is similar to the cold war because they are both rivalries competing against one an other. The difference of the Cold War and Tom and Jerry is they are two different kind of rivalries. The Cold war was obviously more serious of a competition. | tomjerrypic.jpg
