FC: Ms. Maudie
Well I just love to make flowers happen. | I declare, putting these beautiful creatures on the lord's green earth just makes my heart feel like a summer breeze
Well that's about the extent of my activities really. I just try to be as kind as possible, and use my flowers to make the world prettier. | I also try my best to advise those little Finch children when they come over and play in my yard. I only wish to bring some peace to their difficult lives.
Those Finch kids, Jem and Scout are most likely to be the most important people in my life right now.
I keep to myself more than the other ladies of the county, so though I will attend their parties, I'm more content with being friends with the children
One winter, the first time it had snowed... Since what had seemed like forever, my house burned to ashes and I laughed at so hard at the irony.
Those foot washing, baptist Mennonites strolled by one day and told my poor old heart that I was hell-bound! | And all that just because I appreciate the birds and flowers!
When my house burned down I thought I would lose everything, but that kind Atticus Finch ran in and saved my old rocker that he knew I liked so much.
I don't care much for material things, but I do like to wear any number of pretty sun-hats.
"The handful of people in this town who say that fair play is not marked White Only; the handful of people who say a fair trial is for everybody, not just us; the handful of people with enough humility to think, when they look at a Negro, there but for the Lord's kindness am I." (Lee 236)
