S: Gables' in Mauii 2010

BC: Aloha We'll be back

FC: The Gables | Maui | 2010 Summer Vacation

Maui (Ka'anapoli) turned out to be a prefect combination of gorgeous beaches; waterfalls and rain forests to explore; and nights on the town with plenty to see, do, and eat. (Our vegetarian palates were never wanting, but rather treated to an amazing array of island favorites and flavors.) Veronica and Alexa, every inch thrill-seekers, flew over the clear blue Pacific and rushed down cables above rain forest tree tops. Their energy never wained as they filled their days iwith pristine sand, warm water, and local hang-outs and food. And simply chillin' becomes special when your on Maui. John and I relaxed with night swims and dining out, both with and without the girls--who were giddy having whatever they wanted at the resort or so nearby that they could go without parents. Our ten days on Maui left us wanting more. I won't be surprised if we return for Part 2 of our adventure.

Veronica and Lexi were often mistaken for Sports Illustrated swim suit models on Ka'anapali Beach and elsehwere.! Good thing John and I were there to be noticed as "the parents" by the older surf bums.... | Our beautiful, thrill-seeking girls always complied for photo and autograph requests.

Our teenagers made their suite "homey" with little delay. There was always time for girl talk and Mountain Dew, the latter accumulating fast in their formerly pristine room. | Sets the tone for the whole resort. It was beautiful! | One might think these princesses were raised together.... | Open-air tropical lobby at our resort, Ka'anapoli Shores...

We found the best burgers on Maui at Cool Cat Cafe. Our favorite table faced the ocean across the street and during diinner we watched for the caravan of canoes to glide past as the sun set. The only thing better about being here was the food! We originally set out to find Lexi the best island burgers and, in the process, found a tasty array of veggie burgers. Of course we went back!

Cool Cat Cafe Wharf Cinema Center 658 Front St. #160 Lahaina, HI 96761

I can't think of a lovelier place to start the day with a hearty breakfast of eggs, French toast, and coffee. Others started to wander in as we left, but it was breezy and chill to sit with the two Princesses under pink umbrellas with birds chirping here and there.

It's fairly obvious that John lets down his usual reserve on vacation;P Yes--there's the love of my life looking loony; my daughter not looking at me that morning; and Alexa always camera ready (she can't take a bad pic!) | Lahaina days....

Daytime in Lahaina, just after breakfast | I tried to get one of those cool, old trees past customs.... I still want one!

Our resort was as beautiful as anyplace we could have visited. We didn't name our chameleon so we wouldn't miss him/her.

Hard Rock Cafe did not rock. The food was so-so at best; prices too high; but we were glad to have taken the girls there. What would a vacation be without a little over-sold dining?

Veronica and Alexa taking the plunge into the blue Pacific | Hard to tell if this was before or after parasailing...

 World-Class Zipliners

You can still change your minds.... | We don't wanna' land on them goats! | Wheeee!!!

 Let's do it again!

 Our girls are fearless!

 Finally in the rainforest

If there is a swimming hole

 I will find it

 Into the drink once again

 Morning in Lahaina

 Night and Day

 Our beautiful Beach Babe!
