FC: Road Trip July 2011
1: Well, the trip didn't start off so well as Mike gauged his wrist changing a spark plug and then the van's brakes weren't working properly. After a few hours, the van was fixed and we were off!

18: A little stop at the end of Hwy. 1 where we met a charming 85 yr. old man whose wife had passed away a year ago. Sweet man who managed the place alone. He sat with us at breakfast and treated us with stories of the past. We bought a jar of his homemade blackberry jam.

29: A mama and baby whale in the Kalamath River | The mist from the whale's blow horn | Elk along the way | The elk and whales were all just steps away from the road we were traveling.
30: Historic Requa Inn overlooking the Kalamath River | This place was a special find for us. The view was spectacular, the service superb, and the bath comfortable. We even spotted 2 black bear across the river.
34: Driving through, we found the most majestic trees that exist. They left us breathless. | We couldn't help but stop and explore the trees first hand. | We were both in awe, in wonder. | We had to take a hike after all. It was too beautiful to miss out on. | Driving through
35: Redwood Forest | Hiking Through | The hike was wonderful but eerily quiet. Everything was so large! It seemed as though we traveled back through time and were walking in the same forest as the dinosaurs.
36: Winchester Beach and lighthouse.
