S: LILY'S THIRD YEAR - April 2010 to 2011
Well, it looks like another year has passed, and as usual your Daddy and I don't know where the time has gone. You have grown so much this year. Not only are you getting bigger, but your personality is becoming so strong! You loved riding your | your tricycle and grandma Phyllis's pedal car as well. You frequently refused to wear hats, but I guess you decided that for this picture it was OK. Enjoy the pictures sweetheart. Mommy and Daddy love you!
You and your cousin Kason managed to share the iPad with virtually no fighting. Oh, and I'm pretty sure that big red smile was a clever way to get out of actually eating the apple.
Here you are giving Daddy's ranger hat a try. You also loved to help Mom and Dad water the flowers.
Here you are with Momma awake and Momma trying to take a nap. And, of course, you with Buddy!
Here's my little bathing beauty. As the year went on, your collection of bath toys grew to include most of a barnyard! | I loved these overalls. | Daddy playing "stroller" with you | Riding on Grandma Phyllis's airplane
We all had a blast trick or treating this year. You dressed as a cow, and insisted on wearing the costume for the next month! You were so cute you got all the best candy

I will never know how your grandma Phyllis gets you to wear these hats! | You and Daddy being silly. | This was the year of the unicorn... | AND the zebra! | I think we may have played too hard.

You always have fun at Grandma Phyllis's house. Here you are reading a book with Daddy, playing with a bunny Uncle Sean brought you, and smiling for the camera.
You in you Dora dress, moose pj's and unicorn gown. You love your fuzzy purple blanket, and, although you didn't like your ladybug pillowpet, you insisted the picture be in your book.
We had Christmas Eve at Grandma Phyllis's house, and you had lots of fun. You got a complete zebra outfit, cow blanket, animal figures and lots more!
We had lots of fun decorating the house this year. Each year we get you an ornament and this year it was a cow.
You had so much fun opening presents from Grandma and your Uncle Sean and Aunt Chrissy.
Coming down the stairs with Momma Christmas morning. Daddy was taking your picture while you were busy seeing what Santa brought. Playing with all your new toys. You loved unwrapping everything! | Eating candy with Momma.
You decided to crawl on top of Momma to have a nap! | Fun and food at Grandma's house.
We lost a faithful friend and family member this year. Our Merle passed away in March at 13 years old. He was stealing food and working his sniffer to the very end.You loved Merle and he loved you. He even let you tuck him in with blankets and | Merle Smith 2/98-3/11 snugglies. You asked us frequently where Merle was, and we assured you he was in heaven chasing squirrels. I believe that's where he is right now. We love you Merle.
YOUR'RE 3! Daddy and I brought cake and party blowers to St. Mikes on your birthday. We taught you and your friends how to use the blowers and everyone ate lots of sugar! | You and Allyson with party blowers. | Dora was still one of your favorites. | You and Momma having fun at the party.
Here we are arriving at your class and handing out the cupcakes. | You,Momma and Daddy at the party. You have a bunny from Miss Gina's boys, Trevor and Brandon.
We had such a great time with you this year, and we passed quite a few milestones. First, you were potty trained this year. Mom and Dad would like to take credit, but the truth is you decided when to do it all on your own. I got home from work one Saturday, and you said,"Momma, I need to go to the potty." Then you walked in the bathroom, took care of business, and got your clothes back on all by yourself! I was amazed! You also demonstrated precocious negotiating skills. Once after you had recently learned the concept of having "options",
you were giving Daddy a particularly difficult time at bedtime. Finally, when your Daddy had had just about all he could take, I stepped in, sent Daddy away and told you in a rather short tempered way that "Momma is your best option right now." You responded through your tears, "I want more OPTIONS." You got your first twin sized bed this year. The mattress lived on the floor for at least 6 months where it functioned primarily as a trampoline for you and Max. You became a master at bed time stalling techniques. Some of your favorites: I need a drink of water. I'm hungry. Can I have a sandwich? I need to potty. And, my personal favorite, I need to change my sheets. It should be noted that your sheets were perfectly clean. And, yes, at some point Mom and Dad caved to them all. Some of your favorite things this year were unicorns,Dora,Zebras, camels, noodles with huge amounts of grated parmesan, stickers, bouncy castles, lemonade, and playing with other kids. Your favorite colors were pink and purple. You also developed a few fears this year. You became afraid of the dark. Apparently, this is a normal stage of development. Of course, this did not stop Mom and Dad
from purchasing every night light known to man. In fact, your father bought you a light that projected Dora and Boots onto your ceiling! You also had flashlights, and you fell asleep with the lights on many a night. We also discovered you had a fear of squirrels! Your Daddy and I had no idea where this came from. On a trip to Nisqually Wildlife Refuge, a squirrel scampered toward you, and you freaked out. You continued to be scared of them as well as any sort of bug or fly. It appears that you definitely prefer bigger critters (like the Yaks at Olympic game farm...your next book!) What a fantastic year we have had, and as I'm writing this, we are well into your next year. Your Daddy and I are constantly amazed at what a wonderful, beautiful, mischievous, hilarious, little girl you are. Your are the greatest gift we will ever be given, and we love you more than all the world. Love, Momma and Daddy
 It's POTTY time! (sorry I couldn't resist)
