FC: A spoonful of sugar.....
1: The average American consumes up to 115 lbs of sugar per year!
2: Tooth decay is an active process. The bacteria that causes decay is always in our mouth. This bacteria is fed every time that we eat or drink sugar throughout the day. | The bacteria will then secrete an acid byproduct that erodes the tooth structure. These portions of our teeth then become weakened. | This now weaker tooth continues to decay and over time the eroded portion of the tooth becomes large enough to cause pain and can usually be seen.
3: At first only a small portion of your tooth will be effected but over time the entire tooth will be compromised and become infected. This may then result in the loss of a tooth.
