S: West Coast Adventure 2009
FC: Three friends, Two states, One Unforgettable Journey... Oregon & Washington State 2009
1: DAY 1: Departing - Orlando, FL... Arriving - Portland, OR. Its been over 8 hours of travel, yet at baggage claim tiredness quickly yields to excitement. | First order of business, Rental Car. Second, check-in to the Crown Plaza.
2: Hellooo Portland...no sooner are our bags dropped before we are out the door. Off to the Oregon Museum of Science & Industry. | We boarded the Osprey, a Jet Boat, to explore Portland's historic bridges, skyline and scenic waterfront. Oh, did I mention we were going 65 mph on an already chilly day!
4: DAY 2: We venture along the Columbia River Gorge, home to over 70 breathtaking waterfalls. Commence the photo ops...
6: The day has begun to warm up just a bit and we join the other visitors who begin to trek the mountain trail. Multnomah Falls, absolutely beautiful!
7: FUN FACT: Plummeting 620 feet from its origins on Larch Mountain, Multnomah Falls is the second highest year round waterfall in the nation.
8: Half a day of exploring and its time for lunch. We head towards Hood City to meet with two of Jackie's college friends. They introduced us to some authentic Thai cuisine (thus began our love of Chicken Pad Thai). Being that today we chose to wing our plans, do we now head back to Portland or at the recommendation of new friends press on towards Mt. Hood... mountain bound!
9: As we make our ascent up the mountain the temperature is quickly dropping. Snow on the ground in August! Definitely not in Florida anymore. | fun fact: | fun fact: Mt. Hood is the highest mountain in oregon, 11,235 ft above sea level.
10: fun fact: Timberline's Magic Mile chairlift, built in 1939, was the first chairlift in Oregon. | A walk in the clouds, breathtaking. (No, literally the air is so thin up here.)
11: Snow Angels, Snowball fight = | Wet pants and icicle fingers.
12: DAY: 3 Beach bound we head for the Oregon coast to the city of Cannon Beach. Cannon is home to Haystack Rock, a 235 ft. tall sea stack rock formation. | Cannon Beach, OR
14: Hug Point
16: "Downtown" Cannon...Mom 'n Pop shops, galleries and delicious eateries; gorgeous blooms in every direction, what a place. Now off to the General Store.
