BC: To Don Snow my dad With All Our Love, Heidi & Gary Rossmeisl

FC: Victorian Girl | Artworks by Don Snow

1: Born in Springfield, Mass., Don Snow grew up playing classical music on the piano and painting artwork in one of the attic rooms. His father was a veterinarian and did pastels in his early years, his mother painted in oils and encouraged Don throughout his younger years to follow his passion in art. His family appreciated art and self-expression. His parents, along with Dr. Van Ness, loved photography and established the Springfield Photography Club. Snow continued experimenting his love for art in many different forms. He built haunted houses for amusement parks, life size characters for private customers, a large display piece to celebrate Massachusetts Eastern States 50th birthday which received recognition in local newspapers. He also built a beautiful English Village window display, which caused many people to stop and stare in awe at the artistic detail put into each piece. | Don spent his summers in Stone Harbor, New Jersey, where he was a featured artist at the Sandpiper Galleries. His work garnered many awards in New Jersey area shows, including the Professional Artist show in Cape May. While a member of the Springfield Art League, Don won awards throughout the northeast. His oil portrait of himself as a child won him first place out of 250 artists and his paintings have been on display in a one man show at the American International college in Massachusetts, and the Piney Gallery in Suffield, Connecticut. Don Snow is always striving for his art to tell a story and it is important to him that he gets the personality of the person or animal in his art. His work is inspired and influenced by such artists as Berthe Morisot, Claude Monet and Joaquin Sorolla. He considers himself to be a self-taught artist, but has studied with John Phelps and Daniel Green. His style is a combination of realism and impressionism, which is especially apparent in his land and seascapes. Today Don Snow's artwork is in many private collections. He continues his art and teaches lessons in his home studio where he has a following of dedicated students who really enjoy their lessons.
