BC: “Plant seeds of happiness, hope, success, and love; it will all come back to you in abundance


1: Papa was born on March 21, 1929. He is the 7th child of Lolo Isias and Lola Cris. He grew up in Macebebe Pampanga.

2: At a young age, Papa learned the value of hard work. He cleaned bottles at his sister's pharmacy during the day. Papa went to school at night. He didn't have much time to study at home, but with his determination and persistence, he was able to finish his course in accounting at UE. He worked hard and helped paid his way through college.

4: Papa's first car was a second hand Ford in 1954. Papa studied business administration in University of the East and joined the Bulletin Publishing Corp. in 1959 until 1986

6: Lolo Isaias and Apong Pio are family friends already before Papa and Mama met. Mama together with Apong Ining was invited to a party of the mother of Tatang Paeng, and met Papa.

7: Papa and Mama got married in May 4,1963.

8: Papa and Mama got married on May 4, 1963 at St. Paul Church in Manila. Their reception was held at Bulakena Social Hall in Manila. They served delicious dinner. They went on a honeymoon cruise to Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo Japan.

10: A Rotarian, Papa in 1976 was cited by the Rotary International, District 380. In 1994, he was cited by his native Pampanga as the most outstanding Kapampangan in the field of print media management.

11: Papa worked in Manila Bulletin. He was one of the bright young men recruited by Menzi. Together with Mars Quimson, developed a partnership and friendship.

12: Family was always a priority. Birthdays, weddings and specially Lolo and Lola's Wedding Anniversaries were celebrated.

14: Papa and Mama have seven wonderful children. Koya is the eldest born in 1965 followed by Gina, Benjo, Macmac, Franco, Alma and Carina.

15: We always go out on Sunday afternoons. Luneta park was a favorite. Mama brings "baon" for snack or sometimes buy "balut" from the vendors. We go play skateboarding near the bay or just stroll around to get fresh air. If were lucky, Papa will treat us to Brown Derby.

16: Our first home at Pangilinan Drive, Project 8, Quezon City. All of the seven children spent their childhood in this house. We wake up, eat, and go to school all together. Papa was still working with Manila Bulletin and Mama looks after the pawnshop in Caloocan. On Fridays evenings, we look forward for Papa's pasalubong of magazines like Liwayway, to read our favorite comics.

17: On summertime in Baguio,usually on Holy Week. We did horseback riding at the Burnham Park, strolling at The Mansion, shopping at Minseview Park. Mama buys longanisa and strawberry at the "Palengke," and we stayed at the hilly Green Mansion.

19: Macabebe Circle is an organization Kapampangan. They learn to dance with their partners and celebrate the Maharajah festival every December at the church grounds of MAcabebe lead by the Grand Maharajah. Papa became the the Grand Maharajah twice.

20: BADJAO, La Vista is our second home. We moved in 1979. Papa was still with Manila Bulletin and Mama had more pawnshops. We spent our high school and college days in this house.

25: Papa joins inquirer in 1982. It was during his presidency when the paper became the mostly widely circulated national daily. In this picture, he is seated with a long-time ally, Chief Justice Panganiban and publisher Mr Isagani Yambot.

27: BMP leaves the Inquirer in good shape after serving it for 11 years. "Ben is essentially a circulation wizerd, an expertise enriched by experience in the Bulletin. Ben reaffirms a phenomenon long known to market research on media, editors and circulation managers: the circulation of dailies has been stagnant for more than a decade. No newspaper has created a new market. Its circulation grows at the expense of other paper-a zero sum game."- Amando Doronila

28: Through the years, Papa would take us to the beach. In the early years, we went to Matabungkay with his friends from the Rotary. We also visited the Quimson Family in Hundred Island, Pangasinan. A favorite is Puerto Azul in Cavite, where Papa had a membership. The recent beach outing was at Boracay, after Franco;s wedding.

29: Macabebe. Papa's hometown. The Pangilinan family grew up in the town of Macabebe. Every year, Christmas, Holy Week and fiesta were celebrated in the old house of Lolo Isaias and Lola Cris. Papa built a new house in 2005 to replace the old house. Papa and Mama still celebrated some occassions in the new house.

30: Spring Gate Blvd, Thornhill | Churchill Avenue, North York | Pinewood Resort, Peterborough | Niagara on the Lake, Ontario | Port Stanton Resort | Weldrick Road, Richmond Hill, Ontario 1999 | CANADA. We migrated to Canada in May 1990. The first house was in Brampton. After a year we moved to Venice Crescent in Thornhill. Gina got married during that time. A few years later, we moved in to a townhouse in Weldrick Road East in Richmond Hill. In 1999, Alma got married to Gary.

31: Cedarwood Resort, Muskoka | Shane Baghai Condominium | Spring Gate Blvd., Thornhill | Port Stanton, Ontario | Venice Crescent, Thornhill, 1996 | Papa bought a condo in Beecroft but Mama liked a house better, and so we moved in to Churchill Avenue in the same area. During those years that Papa and Mama would visit Canada, they would go on small trips to Niagara, Montreal, Quebec and the cottage resorts in Muskoka. Later on, they tried the condo living again at Shane Baghai. And finally settled a house in Spring Gate Boulevard back to Thornhill.

32: MONTESQUE. In 1998, Papa bought and renovated the Montesque House in LA Vista. The house is surrounded by the view of Marikina and Rizal. It was the venue for the weddings of Carina, in 2000 and Franco's in 2008.
