FC: Café Bombing | 2012

Hello , my name is Benyamin Yoseff and my best friend David Yee was killed in a café bombing. | This is my friend, David. He was killed in a café bombing a week before his Bar-Mitzvah. | July 8th, 2010

Well, it was just another day. David and I headed to the café for candy and drinks. David went to the bathroom to clean some candy off of his hands and then a Muslim entered into the store. He was yelling and causing commotion. My dad always told me to never stay around people like them so I went to the bathroom to grab David. As he and I were trying to leave, the violent Muslim grabbed David. He had him by his neck. I struggled to pull David from him Some other man grabbed me, but I ran to a nearby alley. Then, "Boom!" The explosion went off. | The Bombing | July 8th, 2010

My dad was on his way to get David and me. He saw the exploded café shop and became hysterical. I ran to hug him and a sigh of relief was let down on my forehead. He immediately asked for David. I hesitated to answer and with my eyes watering, "The Muslims got 'em!" I cried. | After The Bombing

Today is my birthday. I'm turning 13 and I'm having my Bar-Mitzvah at the synagogue. David and I planned for so much excitement today. If only I could go back in time to save him. Every moment now I think about how life changed due to that fatal mistake. | ,July 12th, 2010

Don't think: Look! -Ludwig Wittgenstein | There was a lot of prep work before my Bar-Mitzvah. I had to read books and I had to practice scriptures over and over with my dad, a rabbi at the synagogue to recite for the big day. That day arrived and I received lots of gifts, money and even a wonderful chocolate and vanilla cake! I cut it in half, naturally, to split with David.

A couple of days after my 13th birthday, I helped bury David. His family was terribly sad and distraught for days. I felt so guilty, but I did all I could do. I'm just thankful for the man who grabbed me in time and pulled me away from those doors. Now, I'm so depressed. My best friend is gone. I was always with him. He was like a brother to me.! | July 18th, 2010

My father is the rabbi so he lead the services at the funeral and kept David's family well up to it. My dad read pages and pages from the Torah symbolizing David's death. I tried my best not to look sad. The Torah stated that we have to believe in God. | The deceased shall never be seen. so they're wrapped up the immediate family as choice to view. It is found to be disrespectful to look at someone who can't look back

As long as I live, I'll hear waterfalls and birds and winds sing. I'll interpret the rocks, learn the language of flood, storm, and the avalanche. I'll acquaint myself with the glaciers and wild gardens, and get as near the heart of the world as I can. -John Muir
