S: Canada and Colorado August 2009

In July 2009 Larry was transitioning between Iraq and Afghanistan. So, packing up our old Astro van he headed to Airdrie, Alberta, Canada to stay in the home of Larry and Eleanor Mitchell, missionaries for Friends of Israel. Larry spent several weeks in their home taking care of their house, pets, and ministries while they traveled to Germany to visit family. God also provided several side jobs which kept Larry busy so that we could continue to pay our bills. At the end of August I flew to Calgary and joined Larry for his last two weeks before he had to leave for Fluor Industries in Afghanistan. During that time we were able to spend a few days exploring the beauty of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. How majestic is Your Name, O Lord!

We drove to Banff in Alberta and stayed At The Wit's End Bed and Breakfast. We ate dinner at a little mom and pops down the road with beautiful views of the mountains.

The water that flowed in the mountains was a beautiful transparent teal color.

 Bow Falls Banff, Alberta

The rivers flow from ice glaciers higher up in the mountains. It was very cold!

 I Love You Larry Visk

Navigating crazy curves as we come down from the glaciers. You don't see bear collision signs in Wisconsin!

A train that had just come out of the spirals and now traveled parallel to us as the sun sets on our beautiful day!

Saying goodbye to the owners and new friends from England at the Wits End B&B | Banff Springs Hotel A Castle built for the elite aristocrats to enjoy on summer holidays in the 1800s. The appeal to the area besides the majestic mountains were the hot springs that are nearby. Larry and I enjoyed one evening in the upper hot springs.

Out of the mountains and into the rolling prairies of Alberta again, we head back to Airdrie. The next morning my parents met us in Airdrie so they could say goodbye to Larry and escort me with my Astro Van back to the United States. I drove Larry to the Calgary airport and once again we hugged and kissed through tearful goodbyes. | I spent the next three days traveling with mom and dad back to Banff National Park so I could share with them many of the sites that Larry and I had found. Hot water gushes out of the upper springs. Then on to see the mountains and waterfalls.

The sun sets on the journey with my parents as they head to the Pacific coast and I make my 1200 mile trip to Denver, Colorado by myself.

Arrived in Denver at the home of Elaine Merrill, missionary and long time friend, on Sunday night. The next morning my dear friend, Barb Bauer flew from Illinois to stay with us. The next several days was a wonderful distraction for me as I was missing Larry so much. They did a great job of keeping me busy and laughing!

The Butterfly Museum Below is actual tinkle from the butterfly at right...who did this during a photo shoot! | It had never occurred to me that butterflies have to go tinkle too!

This particular butterfly fell in love with me and would follow me around for a while.

The wardrobe from C.S. Lewis novel, the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. | I'd say we are "ADVENTURES in ODYSSEY"!

Now I know why God gave me such big arms. You never know when you will have to hold up a boulder with one arm.

New fact that I learned about Barb...she is afraid of heights. Going up to the top of Pike's Peak was truly an act of love. She prefers the flat corn fields of Illinois! I don't think she looked out the windows the entire trip up and down.

SERIOUSLY! We are 14,000 feet up in the air and we encounter road construction!

Indian Bible Mission | Elaine's friend Claude and his dummy Will E. Talk. | Elaine's pastor on the right. Native born and also deaf. | On the left is a missionary to the Indian Reservations near Denver.

I found a husband doll at a garage sale for 50c and I would take it on trips with me and tease Larry about my new husband who says nice things. Elaine had her "Dar" doll as well. When we passed this little chapel I just had to get a picture.

Larry, as I look up in wonder and awe at the moon and stars that God has placed in my night brings me comfort to know that you look up at the very same moon and stars in your sky. Living on two different continents right now is a testament to our faith and love that we have for each other and in Christ. I love you! Bianca
