2: "Stonewall" Thomas Jonathan Jackson | Got his nickname because of his bravery for the first battle of Manassa Junction. He stood like a stone wall. Made the Stonewall Brigade from the 2nd, 4th, 5th, 27th and 33rd Virginia Infantry.at the Battle of Chancellorville we was killed by his friends in a friendly fire. He was shot 3 times. It was a terrible blow to the Confederacy.

3: Life during the civil war | The Union army recruited about 2,500,000 men, while the Confederate army had about 1,250,000 men. the life during the civil war was horrible. they ate bread called hardtack. Most worms were in there. The only thing good was Coffee. Most of the women took jobs. They had to feed the child/children.They had to clothe them. Some took on roles like nurses. Some were spies while other women fought.

4: Communication object: Telegraph and signal tower | The telegraph was emerging as to sending messages from one location to another electronically.The telegraph corps communicate with the army in the battle front. Tall signal towers were used to send messages short distances. It was like a pole that powers our house!

5: How the slavery ended | It was emancipation proclamation. It allowed slaves in other states to be free. the 13th, 14th,and 15th amendments officially abolished slavery in every state. This made slaves grateful. 2000 African Americans enlisted for the Union. Though, some fought for the Confederacy because some promised they will have freedom. there were more African American soldiers in the Confederacy than in the Union. They fought about every battle.

6: It was the Appatamox courthouse. Lee was stuck there. His men were tired,and hungry. Grants army outnumbered them two to one by 2 to 1. So Lee surrendered his whole army to Grant. When Lee came out all of the Union cheered until Grant silenced them. He said that they are countrymen again. That's how the war officially ended. | how the war ended

7: 13th,14th,15th Amendments | The 13th amendment officially states that free labor is not allowed. It abolishes slavery ,and you have to pay for labor. the 14th amendment states that anyone born in the united states are free and legal citizens. the 15th amendments says that citizens of America has the right to vote.

8: 1. Lincoln did not believe that whites and blacks could live together in peace. He had planned to relocate the entire black population of the United States to Central America. 2. Sickness accounted for a full one-third of all casualties in the Civil War. The 12th Connecticut Regiment entered the war with a compliment of 1,000 men. Before it entered its first engagement, sickness had reduced its strength to 600 able bodied soldiers. 3. There were more than 10,000 soldiers serving in the Union Army that were under the age of 18. | Fun Facts

9: Fun Facts Continued | 4. Union and Confederate forces stationed at Fredericksburg during the winter of 1862 traded items by constructing small boats and floating them back and forth across the Rappahannock river. 5. General Robert E. Lee, commander of the Confederate forces, traveled with a pet hen that laid one egg under his cot every morning. 6. Approximately 130,000 freed slaves became Union soldiers during the war.
