What is Communism? | A theory or system of social organization in which all property is owned by the community and each person contributes and receives according to their ability and needs.
About Communism | There are several different kinds of communism but they all support a commitment to Marxist philosophy. They wanted to eliminate class distinctions by placing all property under the state's dominion and assist revolutionary movements in other countries seeking to remove capitalist oppression. Communism wants to end this domination by empowering workers and creating a classless society
They wanted to apply the principles of science to governance while valuing each member of society equally. They believed that basic human conflict is between oppressed and oppressors.
Communism History | Communism was an economic-political philosophy founded by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels in the second half of the 19th century. In 1848 they wrote and published "The Communist Manifesto". They wanted to end capitalism feeling that it was the the social class system that led to the exploitation of workers.
The workers that were exploited would develop class consciousness. Then there would be a fundamental process of class conflict that would be resolved through revolutionary struggle. This would create a communist society. The state would pass through a phase, often thought of as a socialism, and eventually settle finally on a pure communist society. In a communist society, all private ownership would be abolished and the means of production would belong to the entire community.
Communism became the dominant political philosophy of many countries across Asia, Eastern Europe, Africa, and South America. It later developed in Russia. This was the first time any group with a decidedly Marxist viewpoint managed to seize power. They later became known as the Communist Party

They followed the example of the soviet model of development through heavy industry with surpluses extracted from peasants. Consumer goods were left to secondary importance. Later the Great Leap Forward was formed and it was instituted to help transform China into a heavy industrialized society., but because of it many people starved to death. Soon after Mao died and Deng Xiaoping took over
