S: Aedifex and Bratus

BC: ~The End~

FC: Aedifex and Bratus

1: There has never been a beginning to this world, just a series of ends. Growth ends. Life ends. The world ends. The earth is left dry and deserted, burning to ashes. That is how the world was before this cycle was started. It was nothing but dirt and deserts. Where beautiful snow-peaked mountains once stood volcanoes now constantly erupted. Earthquakes shook the ground until it cracked, and smoke poured out of the fissure in the earth.

2: Out of one of these cracks the goddess Aedifex came out of the earth with the smoke. She had been taking care of the earth for five cycles. Every several hundred years the goddess would tired of the world and all the loneliness it held for her. In her rage she would destroy the earth and the stars in heaven. But as the earth and stars die she falls in the earth and dies as well, then she is reborn again and creates the world anew.

3: She emerges from the earth and calms the swirling sky of fire that formed after the destruction of the stars. She shapes the stars and the sun again to light the earth as she works. When in the light of the stars she saw the destruction she had caused, worse than ever before, she cried for three days. Her tears extinguished the fire in the volcanoes and created the oceans and lakes that cover the earth. Now that there was water, Aedifex poured it all over the world so it would no longer be a desert. Her tears gave life to the ground and small plants began to grow. Using the soil, Aedifex molded large plants like flowers, vines, and trees.

4: One day Aedifex was making a new kind of tree. She gave it her shape, two large branches came out of each side, and the trunk was spit in two sections. She had hoped that it would look enough like a person to keep her company. | However, the shape only made her feel even more lonely. She sighed with longing and as her breath fell on the tree it burst to life. The bark and leaves shook off the tree as it moved and Aedifex could see that she had created a man as tall and beautiful as she was. He told Aedifex that his name was Bratus. They fell deeply in love and created the world together.

5: When their work was done the earth was covered in colorful plants and beautiful natural features like waterfalls. Aedifex flew up into the heavens to look down on their creation as though she were the sky. But she saw that under all the vegetation, the earth was empty. So, she went down to the ground again and started working with the earth to try and create creatures that would inhabit the earth. She created all manner of creatures, everything from the smallest insect to the whales in the sea. But they all fell short of her expectations. Despite how beautiful they were, they could not speak, or think deeply, like she could

6: It was not until Aedifex had her first child with Bratus that she finally had created the creature she wanted. However, their children did not have the heavenly powers that Aedifex and Bratus did. So, to give them some sort of power, Aedifex gave them dominion over the earth and all the creatures it held.

7: Aedifex loved her children so much that she would often neglect the rest of the world to be with them. Bratus knew this would lead to the death of this world so when Aedifex flew to the heaven to look over the world, Bratus reached up and held her there so she could not come down, and could not neglect the earth. Bratus stayed holding her there for so long that he turned back into a tree with its branches raised to the sky, holding Aedifex there forever, never to let the world die again.
