One year. One short little year. It seems like such a short amount of time. But when you look back at all that the last year has brought for your family - a new house, a new town, a new baby, and lots and lots of new friends - you realize that one little year can actually be a really big deal. We hope that you have enjoyed your time in Katy as much as we have all enjoyed having you here. We treasure your friendship, the shared memories, and that we had the opportunity to live with some of our very best friends only a few doors away, even for only a little while. We wish you well as you begin your new adventure in Virginia! lots of love, | jay, keri, emma, & anna - | your neighbors
 O U R B L O C K | Kids in the street. Babies in our arms. Beer in our hands.
A block like ours is rare. Where only steps from your front door, you will find an ever ready supply of playmates, other parents who treat your kids as their own, an outdoor movie theater, and too many preschoolers to count. Where kids playing in the street until bedtime is not only common, but the norm. And where, once those kids are all tucked in to bed, you will more often than not find their parents gathered back together in the street until the wee hours of the morning, periodically checking in via baby monitors and cell phones, but mostly just enjoying good drinks and good conversation. Yes, a block like ours is rare.

In August, we were all so excited to celebrate with you as you brought not only your second sweet baby girl in to the world, but the second Anna to our block. And despite her tendency to empty her stomach quite completely and unexpectedly, we have all enjoyed loving on Miss Anna Banana over the last few months!

Pumpkin carving, sack races, a trampoline, good food, a margarita machine, and good friends - what more could you ask for in a Halloween party? How about a Thriller dance lesson? We all had so much fun at Tommy and Laurie's Halloween party, and it will not be the same next year without Jay's incredible dance moves. | O C T O B E R 2 0 1 0

Some might be skeptical of how much fun could be had spending New Year's Eve on your block -- with your kids. But fun we had, indeed. We progressed from house to house for drinks and snacks, popped a few fireworks for the kids, and all made it through to ring in 2011 together.

Dear Jay, Keri, Emma, & Anna, It doesn't seem like a whole year since you guys moved into our neighborhood, how time has passed so quickly. I remember the first time we met your beautiful family at our first annual craw fish boil, it was like y'all were already part of the family. You and Jay are very easy to talk to and we have really enjoyed hanging out with your family. We will definitely miss Jay stopping by for Thursday Night Football. Mark will miss the conversation while Kathleen will miss entertaining Anna. It always took a lot of arm twisting for Jay to "share the love" and let someone else hold Anna. We will never be able to thank Keri enough for helping Mark's mom with her physical therapy after her knee surgery. Keri was very encouraging which was exactly what Mark's mom needed. We will also miss Little Emma's sweet voice and contagious smile and Big Emma is especially bummed about the loss of future babysitting revenue. Although our time together has been short, our memories of you guys will be forever. We wish you well in whatever life brings you. Hopefully it will bring you back to the Houston area very soon. Love, Mark, Kathleen, Alex, & Emma

Dear Davis Family, It’s hard to believe that it’s only been a year since we met you all. We will never forget all the happy memories our families shared including so many Birthday celebrations, Anna’s arrival, play dates, holidays, pizza nights, dinners, trips to the pool, Fall Festival, Rodeo, etc. I tear up thinking about Emma and Anna’s smiling faces and holding Anna for the first time. Some people come in and out of our lives without a tear. You are not those people. We will always see your house as “Emma’s house” no matter who lives there. I’m sure I’ll be texting you for afternoon play dates, shopping, and pedicures for weeks after you move. I’m just not ready to say goodbye so as cliché as it sounds, this is simply “goodbye for now.” We thank you for making our time in Texas so special and so much more of a home and wish you the best of luck in Virginia or wherever the road takes you. Please know that you will always have a special place in our hearts and home. We love you guys! “Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened.” ~Theodor Seuss Geisel, attributed Love, Cory, Kim, Lexie, and Chase

Jay, Keri, Emma, and Anna, Our friendship goes back a little further than others in this book; all the way back to our playgroup days in Beaumont. I suppose you could say that Avery and Emma have been playmates since birth! And while we enjoyed getting to know you during our Beaumont years, it is over the course of the last year, here in Katy, that our friendship has really been elevated to one that we know will be lifelong. We have so enjoyed the last year of driveway playdates, Friday mornings at the park, carpooling, card games, trips to the pool, birthday parties, movie nights, baby playgroup, shared dinners, and most recently, our Lupe' Fridays. It has been a delight to watch Avery and Emma's little friendship grow all on its own and a joy to see Brady and Anna play together. What a way of life we have chosen, huh? Moving every few years. Packing up again before you can really even say you are fully unpacked from the last move. No one can ever say that the ExxonMobil way of life is boring. Hopefully, one day soon, this way of life will mean that we will live near each other again. Thank you for the memories. Thank you for being such great friends to us. Thank you for sharing your kids with us, and thank you for loving ours. Good luck in your new adventure in Virginia! Love, Brian, Jamie, Avery, and Brady

Dear Jay, Keri, Emma, and Anna, I still remember when Jamie told me that friends of hers were moving to Katy from Beaumont. Then, to find out it was right around the corner was great! Y’all have been a great addition to our family and growing neighborhood. I mean really, what small neighborhood has 2 Emma’s, 2 Anna’s and 2 Avery’s??? Your family was a perfect fit and I hope you find a great new family in Virginia, y’all deserve it! We watched your family grow from 3 to 4. With Anna being born the double names grew. Now, we won’t just laugh when we call Emma or Anna, and 2 turn around. Instead, we will think of your beautiful daughters and smile. Sure we made plans some times, but there were also some great spontaneous outings and get-togethers. We watched the kids play in the cul-de-sac until they could take no more. We watched Emma grow to into a great Big Sister. We talked to Jay as he passed by on his nightly walks with Anna. We saw Anna go from spit-up baby to happy little girl. We watched movies and football games in the driveway. We hung out with drinks under the light of the moon. We celebrated Birthdays, Mardi Gras, Christmas, Crawfish Boils, Bunco, Poker, Just Because, and many more together. We want to thank you for making and sharing some great memories with us. We realize that families are going to come and go, but it doesn’t make your departure any easier. Your time may have been short that you spent in Katy, but you’ve made lasting impressions on every person here. You will be missed greatly but never forgotten or replaced. We’ll be ready to kick someone out of their house when y’all are ready to come back! Enjoy and grow in this next journey of your lives and know that you always have your Texas Family here for anything! Keith, Briana, Brighton, and Cielle

Dear Keri, Jay, Emma and Anna, We feel so blessed to have such wonderful neighbors that we can call more than just neighbors but friends! We have loved every minute of getting to know you over the past year. Your family is so sweet, and your girls are absolutely precious! It is hard to believe that there will be one less family on the block to share the evening conversations, holiday gatherings, bunco, poker, and friendly "hello's." It definitely will not be the same on our block without you guys, and your sweet girls. We will miss you all dearly. We are very excited for you, and everything that this move will have in store for your family. This move will bring such wonderful adventures for you and your family, and we wish you all the best!! Love, Jason and Stephanie

It has been really easy to talk and get to know all of you. Anna smiles every time you talk to her and Emma now recognizes us. We wish you the best and hope you have an easy move. The Guidrys | t o m m y l a u r i e & j a k e | It was such a pleasure to get to know you guys in such a short amount of time. Your girls are beyond precious. We will miss you all, but certainly wish will you all the very best in your new endeavor.... Jay is leaving just when the Katy ISD politics is getting good, who will I banter with? We feel like we have hit the lottery as far as neighborhood friends are concerned. So glad that we got the chance to know you before you move on. Emma and Anna are beautiful girls and will be loved by everyone they meet. Good luck to you and hope that our paths cross, again. Micah, Jenee, Annalise, and Avery
