FC: DREAMS DO COME TRUE The Story of Bob Kloepfer's First Year at his Cabin on Lake Kipawa August 2011 to September 2012
A piece of HEAVEN on earth!!! Where else can be found a more stunning setting? Bob had always wished to find a cabin on Lake Kipawa, a place he had come fishing with his dad and brothers. He made his dream a reality. Views from Bob's cabin deck--- BREATHTAKING!!!!
For the dream to come true it needed Bob's vision as only he can dream---he had to work his magic and take the cabin out of the 80's and bring it into the new millennium. But oh so much work!
PRIORITIZE Some things needed immediate change while others could wait or just have a touch-up. The kitchen, floors and driveway had to go but the bathroom could wait despite being very out-of-date and the bedrooms only needed a coat of paint. The docks didn't require urgent reinforcing but Bob wanted a boat at the docks and so bought one in the winter of 2012 and Tony brought it up that spring. NOW THE WORK BEGAN...
DEMOLITION Bob and David tore out the kitchen half-wall and cupboards, got rid of all the old appliances and packed away or threw out the kitchen contents in September and October of 2011. Twelve truckloads to the dump and counting!!!!!!
While work started in the cabin, the lane-way was transformed by Martin Clouatre who brought his big machines in to tackle the very steep driveway and make it more accessible . That didn't stop the enjoyment of the beauty from the deck as seen by Laura and David having coffee while savouring the spectacular views.
Friend Jean from Timmins helped put a new sub-floor down and brother-in-law Glen helped put in new hardwood floors in November of 2011 (after Bob, David and Bob's daughter, Laura ripped out all previous floors in October 2011); friends Paul and Ray from Oregon and Terry from New Hamburg helped Bob add new decks and finish off the railings; Bob's son, Tony did electrical work and David's brother, Gord helped with the kitchen cupboards (Bob and David--but mainlyBob-- put in the cupboards in March and April of 2012 and Gord helped finish them off in August). THANKS TO ALL THESE PEOPLE FOR THEIR INVALUABLE HELP!!!
WORK, WORK, WORK.... What was once old and dysfunctional becomes new and beautiful! (just turn the page to discover)
Bob and David put new stain on the cabin in September of 2012
After a year of hard work and many trips up to Kipawa, Bob's dream has come true (even though there are a few more projects to come) and he has created a little bit of his own paradise in paradise and now it's time for him to ENJOY LIFE!
