2: Job Description I would enforce laws, respond to calls of service, patrol assigned areas, conduct traffic stops and issue citation, arrest suspects, write detailed reports, and fill out forms, and prepare cases and testify in court. Police officers at all levels must write reports and keep detailed records that will be needed if they testify in court.
3: Police officers work long hours. They will work all the time to protect the peace. They will even work on holidays. You would have to go to work really early in the morning or really late at night.
4: Education, Training and other Qualifications You will need to have a high school education, college degree or higher. Have to be U.S. citizen, at least 21 years old, and have a driver's license, must meet specific physical qualification. Training includes classroom instruction in constitutional law, civil rights, state laws and local ordinances, and police ethics.
5: Receive training and supervised experience in areas such as use of fire arms, patrol, traffic control, self defense, first aid, and emergency response. Need to have good judgment, strength and stamina, ability to multi task, communication skills, perceptiveness and empathetic personality.
6: Salary, Range and Benefits $55,010 a year, paid overtime is common shift work is necessary because protection must be provided around the clock.
