All you can drink. That was awesome!
Day 2 September 23, 2013 We arrived in Munich, Germany. The flight didn't seem too long, with all the beer & movies you need to stay entertained.
Munich (Muchen) International Airport. In this open area, connected to the airport, it housed this marketing missile, marketing cars, shops and restaurants. | I had to try the corn on the cob at Oktoberfest!
After arriving at Munich International Airport, Darryl rented a VW "Sharan" van and we drove to our hotel; about 30 minutes away. Our hotel "Tryp" was walking distance to the festival. That's the first place we headed to. We started with some sausage and ended with beer. Prost!
Day 3 September 24, 2013 Rothenburg on the Tauber Throughout all of time, they have preserved the atmosphere of a proud medieval city, with many churches and is surrounded by fortified walls.
St. James Lutheran Parish Church Some of the statues date back to the 12th Century.
DAY 4 September 25, 2013 Glockenspiel in Marienplatz located in the heart of Munich At 11, 12 and 17 o'clock each day, visitors can watch the famous Glockenspiel or carillon. The figures perform the Schfferltanz or Cooper's dance, which was originally performed in 1517 at the Marienplatz to commemorate the end of the plague.
The Royal Hohenschwangau & The Schoss Neuschwanstein Castles Built for King Ludwig II of Bavaria 1864–1886 Died on 13th June 1886 in Lake Starnberg
 Castle tour
Mom wanted steak for dinner, so Darryl did a search on Yelp. This place was a quick drive in the opposite direction of the traffic. We couldn't have asked for anything better. The views of the surrounding river & mountains were amazing and we basically had the place all to ourselves.
Day 5 September 26, 2013 Oktoberfest with Martin Let the festivities begin!
Day 6 September 27, 2013 We drove to Italy through Austria. We had to buy a sticker toll and put it in on our windshield for 8 Euros. I was a little disappointed our passports weren't stamped. The drive took a total of 7 hours, including stops along the way and traffic in Italy, we were literally at a stop. Our "Autohotel" was located in Mirano which is about 15 minutes away from Venice. We arrived around dinner time, so we checked into our hotel went next door at the restaurant called Venexian. Mom is eating chocolate covered strawberries we bought from Oktoberfest the night before.
The Dolo Train Station. It was near our hotel. We took it to Venice, about 15 minutes away. | Day 7 September 28, 2013 First Day in Venice | A typical neighborhood square in Venice | The Best Fish Stew! | The Winged Lion guarding St. Mark Square
OUR FINAL DAYS IN EUROPE | Day 8 September 29, 2013 Last day in Italy We drove to Venice instead of taking the train. Note for the next visit: train schedule slows on Sundays.
Day 9 September 30, 2013 Drove back to Munich to catch our flight home. | 5 hours of driving | 12 hour flight from Munich to San Francisco, then another hour to Las Vegas. | We wish we could stay here in Germany!
