DEDICATION For my amazing son Garrett, in honor of his Graduation June 2012. Every time you turn these pages I hope this book will be a reminder that I love you with all my heart. Thank you for making my world a better place. I am so proud of you. Love you forever, Momma

"So Garrett, are you still interested in taking a trip with me for your grad gift or would you like something else? "Ya sure, I'd still like to take a trip." | Travelers: Anna & Garrett Froese

 Day 1

Saturday Dec 3, 2011 we awoke with plenty of time for last minute preparations. Both of us were "finally" excited for our adventure. Our direct flight to Puerto Vallarta departed from Winnipeg at 1:40 PM. Our drive from Beausejour to Winnipeg was stress free and filled with excitement. Airport Parking dropped us off at the upper level of the airport to my surprise. The new airport was fully functioning and security and departures were now at the upper level. Arrivals at the lower level. Once through security we browsed around the new airport, made a few small purchases and had something to eat. Garrett occupied his time with his Ipod and I read while we waited for our call to board.

When we arrived in Puerto Vallarta, we took a cab to the resort. Once we got there we unpacked and went to check out the resort.

Day 2 | Day 2 was the day we met James and Pat in the dining hut (behind us in the photo). A wonderful couple from Alberta who took us under their wings.

 Views from our balcony

James and Pat took us downtown that evening by taxi cab. We walked the Malecon and the surrounding areas and had dinner.

The restaurant that w | James and Pat bought us dinner in this restaurant to celebrate Garrett's graduation.

On day three we booked a Puerto Vallarta bus tour. Our first stop was downtown Puerto Vallarta. | Day 3

Next stop...hands on with some Iguanas..for a few pesos of course.

The El Set Restaurant received it's name in recognition of the movie "The Nigh of the Iguana". The movie was filmed in Puerto Vallarta in 1964, starring Richard Burton and Ava Gardner.

Tequila anyone?? | The blue agave plant...the makings of a good tequila. | ...the heart and soul of Mexico

We visited a man who owned a tequila business. After he showed us how tequila was made we had the privilege of tasting his many tequilas. Very yummy...most tasted like flavored liqueur.

We ended the tour with dinner at a restaurant located in the jungle (below).

Day 4 | On day four we booked an ATV tour. We drove from the city of Puerto Vallarta to the jungle and rural areas. We both agreed that this was our favorite excursion on our vacation.

 O

Our destination was this tiny bar in the jungle. We had a drink, used the washroom, and watched a young boy play with a scorpion. After a nice long break we headed back to Puerto Vallarta.

There are Huichol Natives working meticulously on their pieces in the shop, one bead at a time. They begin with a form, usually made of wood, gourd or another natural material.

Then they cover the area they wish to bead with a thin layer of wax. Warming the wax with their finger to make it pliable, they use a small needle to pick up a bead and then press it down into the wax with each bead laying side by side. When it's done the wax will be covered completely, and the beads will be laid out in a most intricate pattern. | Symbolism Captured In Beads

 Day 5

On day five James and Pat took us on a bus downtown. We strolled around, had lunch and shopped in the stores and markets.

Day of the Dead | _____ | Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday that focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. One prominent Day of the Dead icon are skeletons. They can take many forms, but all of them are whimsical and joyful - never scary of sad.

 Day 6

On day six we hung out at the resort. No excursions were planned so it was nice to relax at least for a day.

We rented jet skis and once on the water we had a little mishap. I crashed into Garrett after we decided to have a race. It was scary at first but once we got back to the resort we just had a good laugh about it. | Hi Mom.

 Day 7

We booked a trip to the tropical beach hideaway of Las Caletas. Las Caletas was once the private home of John Huston who considered it one of the most beautiful places in the world. Nestled in a secluded nature preserve on the southern shores of Banderas Bay, Las Caletas is only accessible by sea.

Wherever you go, go with all your heart.

 SNORKELING | SNORKELING

While Garrett enjoyed snorkeling and being bit by jellyfish, I took a lesson on cooking paella.

 Kayaking

Once settled on shore you can relax and bask in the tropical sunshine on the beach or climb into a hammock. Away from the water there's an abundance of activities; walk through the jungle, ride donkeys, interact with monkeys and parrots, indulge in a massage or facial at the spa and so much more.

One last picture before we board the catamaran to head back to the hotel.

The crew entertained us on the way back to Puerto Vallarta with two skits. The one with the blonde woman was Grease, not sure about the other one. They were so funny and so entertaining. We all had such a good laugh.

 2012 | Class of | Graduate

I hope your dreams take you to the corners of your smiles, to the highest of your hopes, to the windows of your opportunities , and to the most special places your heart has ever known.

God would never have put that dream in your heart, if He didn't want you to live it.

Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition

After | Before | Son, you'll out grow my lap, but never my heart.

The faces of Garrett Joseph Froese

Friendships that will last a lifetime

 All Stars

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all his ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5
