FC: HIP HOP 101
1: Origins: | Hip Hop music originated from the groits of West Africa. Jamaican ceremonies known as Blues Dances also had a huge impact on the life of Hip Hop. Jamaicans revolutionized Hip Hop through what they call Toasting. This is where they would chant over rhythm and beats.
2: MCING: | MC stands for Master of Ceremonies. This term is rarely used but sometimes can be heard in Rap music. Rap music is one of the elements of Hip Hop. Rappers use DJ's but first Rap was known as the artist supporting the DJ.
3: DJING: | A Disc Jockey is someone who plays recorded songs. Audio Mixing is a technique that DJ's use. This includes adding many different sounds and beats together and master mixing them to make a beat or song.
4: GRAFFITI ART: | Graffiti started back in World War 11 when someone wrote Killroy was here. Graffiti is used for many things including: promotion, self expression, statements, and art form. Tagging is a form of Graffiti but instead of only being on buildings it is used on subways, mailboxes and street signs.
5: BREAK DANCING: | Break Dancing is a form of dance that began when Hip Hop style music came about. Break dance moves include the 6-step, freezes and power moves. The first Break Dance moves were the drop and the in and out. Break Dancing is still a very popular dance today.
