Playing at home. Holly loves to share big giggles and hide in fun places.
Two places you will often find our Holly

 In mommy's childhood nightgown.
 Mother's Day
Waiting for baby Sophie to arrive. August 6, 2011. | Holly has learned how to show affection by gently kissing the "baby" in the mirror on the cheek. While at the hospital this day, Holly encountered a 12-month old baby named Benji. She ran up to him, exclaimed, "Baby!" and kissed him on the cheek. Both kids were totally confused while all parents were thoroughly amused!
One of the rare times we found Holly lounging around on a summer day!
With cousin Hannah when she came from NY to meet Holly and new baby Sophie in August
 Our first family zoo day
August: In general, Holly believes any animal with two legs to be a "duck" and any animal with four legs to be a "dog." When she saw upright monkeys on two legs at the zoo today, she exclaimed, "Duck, duck, duck!" Other kids were searching to see the ducks that weren't there. We just giggled! | This was a very big deal... Holly's First Ice Cream Cone!
September Milestones: Holly Started Kindermusik: an early childhood music and movement class that engages both the parent and the child. Holly attends class with mommy once a week. Daddy sometimes goes too! The classes are said to encourage developmental evolution in language, literacy, listening, problem solving, self-esteem, and music while simultaneously aiding in the development of physical, emotional, cognitive, and social domains. Holly loves this class and the other children. She especially loves her teacher, Ms. Susan. The Kindermusik songs, dances, and movements have become incorporated into our everyday lives. Holly loves "Jelly in a Bowl" and "I See You!" Holly's Babble Singsong: Probably inspired by Kindermusik, Holly can be heard around the house babble-singing her own little language which, to her parents' ears, sounds like a combination of Japanese, German, and Klingon (Star Trek reference). She sways side to side with both arms up in the air, palm side up, as if performing in an opera. Word Combos! Holly now puts words together to make phrases. While watching one of her favorite shows, Little Einsteins, Holly exclaimed, "Oh No!" During Mickey Mouse, she said, "Hot Dog!" during the hot dog dance. She seems to respond to the repetition of the children's cartoons.
First photo with baby cousin, Sophie. Holly absolutely adores her!
Daddy shows Holly an airplane in the sky | Around this time: After watching baby Sophie get swaddled and seeing her tired, sore parents grunt when picking her up, Holly proceeded to swaddle her baby doll and said "baby!" and loudly grunted while standing up.
First Hair Cut! Holly was very brave and a little freaked out!
New 2-Syllable word: Honey! Daddy once said, "Honey, Sit Down!" Later that day, Holly protested leaving the park and exclaimed, "HONNNNEY!" Daddy laughed so hard he had to sit down in the grass, giving Holly the opportunity to escape back to the swing set.
Having fun at the Pumpkin Farm by Nanna's house! | Holly asks for help getting down by holding a palm up, making eye contact, and waiting for someone to respond!
Holly had her first pretend phone conversation around this time. She held the phone up to her ear and said, "Hello, no, no, no, Bye Bye!" She made us laugh at how intently serious she was, in her high pitched chipmunk voice!
Our beautiful little ballerina goes trick or treating with Samma & Sampa
Holly got the concept of trick or treat this year! When we said "trick or treat" to her, she would go to the pumpkin bowl of candy and give us each two pieces!
Around this age: Holly leaned to give "high five" when asked!
Holly's new favorite thing to do is to ask to hold your hand and then walk around the house holding hands.
T | On Veteran's Day, after hearing a speech honoring our vets and our country, Holly applauded and exclaimed, "Yeah!" | Thanksgiving
Nov. 23: Holly mimics play. In Kindermusik, she was swayed in a blanket by two adults. She later came home and did the same thing with her mickey mouse in her blanket, insisting daddy help her. Nov. 25: She said her name for the first time, "Ha-yee." Nov. 29: After stacking 4 blocks, Holly backed up, clapped, and said her first sentence, "Yay, I did it!" Nov. 31: Holly told us she needed a diaper change! All she said was, "Poop!" Dec. 18: Holly pulled the pots and pans out to play and "cooked" the remotes in them. She said, "Pots, oh hot!" When the remotes were done cooking, she used one as a phone with an oven mitt on one hand and a small pot on her head.
 Santa came to Nanna's House
Jan 25: Holly knows the vocabulary for most of her body parts including nose, head, teeth, feet, eyes, hair, ears, mouth, hands, tummy, toes, and butt. Today, at the end of a diaper change, she said, "Bye, bye butt!" Jan. 26: At Kindermusik, Holly pointed to the clock and said, "Clock Clock" very loudly to the whole class. The only problem is that she cannot pronounce "L's." Early Feb: Holly likes to take her clothes off and run around the house. Feb 5: Holly had pneumonia and Daddy was trying to teach her how to cough. Holly thought daddy was in pain, and said, "It's ok, Honey." Feb 15: Holly says, "All done," when she is finished eating and "HONNNNEY," when she is protesting something. One day when daddy tried to trim her toe nails, Holly exclaimed, "HONNNNEY, all done, all done!!!"
Snow day with Auntie Kate, Malorie, and Taylor
Valentine's Day with Nanna. Auntie Marcie, and Sophie
Feb. 21: | Feb. 21: First four word sentence. Holly was watching one of her favorite cartoons, Handy Manny, which has a dog named "Carlos." Daddy asked Holly to bring a ball to him, which she did. She handed it to him and stated, "Here you go, Carlos," (pronounced, "Hug a ko, Carlos!"). It was so funny. Now, we often just call each other "Carlos!" Feb. 25: Holly identifies gloves as "Hands!" March 6: A six word sentence! After putting her baby doll in a pot and covering it with a bib, Holly put her hands up in the air with her palms up and said, "I don't know where baby is!" March 9: Holly stood on the scale and said, "Two, Two!" When daddy looked down, he saw she actually did weigh 22 pounds. March 11: Verbal explosion! Our Holly is chatty, chatty now! She repeats words and phrases all the time, with great articulation. March 28: Holly does a happy dance when she gets to eat a favorite treat. So cute!
 Mommy's 40th birthday weekend at Nanna's
April 6: Verbal explosion again! Holly loves to repeat our words. It's a new level of communication and cuteness. April 10: Holly played catch for the first time! She caught the ball and threw it back. She can also do somersaults, headstands, and spin on one foot. April 11: Holly's favorite children's book is "The Big Red Barn," by Margaret Brown. She asks for it by name and loves to see the animals in it. When she is tired, she condenses it to "Big Barn, Big Barn!" April 18: Playing catch with a basketball 1/3 her size, daddy told Holly, "Keep your eye on the ball!" Holly caught the ball and then smashed her face directly on top, literally placing her eye on the ball!
The Bunny Family! It's Easter. We celebrated with Nanna, Papa, Auntie Marcie, Uncle Mark, cousin Sophie, Great Auntie MaryLou, and cousins Ericka and Jessica Nance.
Holly loved searching for easter eggs and playing with her cousin Sophie..
