1: Hudson Family History 2010 | 2010 was another full year for us! Morgan was still working for FirstLine Communications and I was still working for the local IGA grocery store in our town, Granite Falls, WA. In January Morgan set up a small aquarium with an Oscar fish and a Catfish. His Dad always had fish and aquariums when he was little, so he grew up with a love for them. He has had them in the past and decided to try and set one up again. He also got the surfing bug and brought home a surf board in hopes of getting back into it again. He has many surfing memories from when he was younger and it is something he has always loved! In February we took in a 2nd dog – a friend’s basset hound. He was cute and full of personality, but unfortunately he didn’t do well as a part outdoor dog. We tried a lot of different things to make it work over the next couple of months, but unfortunately basset hounds just aren’t a breed of dog that fit with our lifestyle. We decided to work with a basset rescue to place him in a loving home. We missed him, but they found a great home for him, and he will be much happier there! We also got to take an overnight trip to Silverdale to celebrate Valentine’s Day. In March, Morgan got called back to the railroad part time so he began juggling two jobs again (it lasted until the end of April, when he was unfortunately laid off yet again). I got to participate in a combined training schooling show with my horse– competing in both dressage and show jumping. Our dressage test went really well, and we learned a lot from our jumping round. I also got to own my very first gun and spent some time learning how to shoot. Morgan’s sister, Ashley, got married to Matt Allard and we got to celebrate at their wedding. In May, I got to participate in the NWEC Horse Trials. I had lots of fun and will always have a passion for the sport of 3 day eventing! You have to learn so much and really become a team with your horse – and nothing beats the thrill of running cross country! Boomer and I did really well, placing 2nd in our division! Morgan also began talking about raising chickens, and I came home from work one day to find he had built a chicken coop. So we brought some baby chicks and began raising backyard chickens! Morgan took to caring for chickens really easily and I often called him a “chicken whisperer.” Morgan also got the chance to buy a couple of older dirt bikes, which he spent a lot of time riding with friends during the summer – he even taught me how to ride! In June, Morgan surprised me by bringing home a cute little puppy! I had seen these lab/blue heeler puppies that I fell in love with and one night Morgan decided to bring one home. I was reading in bed and the next thing I know I had a cute puppy in my lap! Best surprise ever! I decided to name her Dixie. I also got to compete in the Aspen Farms Horse Trial. It was definitely both fun and a learning experience! My sister Courtney gave birth to her second baby girl-Naomi! Morgan also began working for the railroad again. This time they called him back to full time work.

2: He knew there was a possibility of getting laid off again in the winter, so he didn’t want to give up his job at FirstLine. So he balanced two full time jobs until early fall when the railroad did lay him off again. This summer was very hard because Morgan worked so much – days and nights. It often left him very sleep deprived and we didn’t get to spend much time together. In August, Morgan had an accident while working in the yard that required an ER visit. He was moving a sharp nailer plate that was nailed to a piece of wood when the puppy tripped him up. He dropped the nailer plate to the side to avoid the puppy but ended up sitting on the sharp plate, which left a huge wound on the back of his right thigh that went into the muscle tissue. He ended up getting two layers of stitches that night in the ER. He wasn’t able to take time to rest as he was still trying to balance two jobs, so one week later the stitches came apart and he was back at the ER – this time getting 4 layers of stitches. It was a long healing process, with even a third visit to the ER to take care of some problems that arose. Morgan was a trooper and still worked very hard through the painful process! I also decided to pursue an interest in piano. I spent time searching on Craigslist and ended up finding a free piano! So we picked it up one evening and brought it home – pianos are VERY hard items to move! We even had to take the porch apart just to get it inside. One of Morgan’s longtime dreams also came true this month- he became the proud owner of a Harley Davidson motorcycle. An orange and black 1996 Sportster 880R. In September I began taking piano lessons and had lots of fun. I even participated in my first recital in December; playing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Silent Night. I have lots to learn and hope to continue my piano journey in the future. I have lots of songs I want to learn to play! We also got to take a weekend trip to Cour D’Alene, ID for Morgan’s family reunion and to celebrate his great-aunt Avis’ birthday. In October we celebrated our 3 year wedding anniversary by taking a flying trapeze lesson together at Emerald City Trapeze in Seattle. It was the experience of a lifetime! We even got to make a “catch” by the end of the lesson. For dinner we went to the Pink Door where they had a live performing trapeze/hoop artist. A very memorable anniversary! I also went back for another trapeze lesson with a friend later in the month – only this time I got really sick. I suffered from a bad case of vertigo for 5 days, so my career as a circus performer was cut short! Ever since we brought home our dog Bosco, I’ve been learning about competitive canine sports and decided I wanted to try and learn agility. In November, Bosco and I started taking lessons. It has been lots of fun and I am hoping to compete someday! I love spending time with animals, it leaves me feeling refreshed and reconnected. I also got to take an indoor rock climbing class, definitely a challenging experience! We celebrated my 31st birthday at Norm’s in Seattle; a dog-friendly pub and eatery. I had lots of fun hanging out and eating with my husband and dogs! We also made the big step of purchasing a set of spiral stairs for our house. It will be great to have the two floors in our house connected, no more using the outside stairs to do laundry! It has been a big project for us and will continue into 2011 before it’s finished.

3: This year was full of God’s grace and blessings. He continues to bless and give grace beyond what we deserve! This year was also full of hard work and perseverance as we struggled with our overbearing and always changing work schedules. It is a blessing that God has provided through having work in these hard economic times, but it was a struggle finding quality time to be together – we even went 9 months without a day off together! We are working toward starting a family and are in a period of perseverance as we work hard to reach that goal. Until that time comes, we are also enjoying our experiences and adventures and the time we have together!
