FC: Jerry Rice: The Great One
1: Jerry Rice was known as the top wide receiver 1980’s and 1990’s. He won three NFL Championships with the San Francisco 49er’s. He is known as the best wide receiver in the entire history of the NFL. He holds numerous records and championships.
2: In 2000 he signed with the Oakland Raiders due to the emergence of Terrell Owens. Rice had 83 receptions and 9 touchdowns that year. The next year he caught 92 passes and 7 touchdowns. That year they appeared in the Super Bowl, but lost.
3: The next year the Oakland Raiders dropped to a 2-14 record in 2003. His role on the team wasn't as important. Rice became frustrated and requested a trade. He was traded to the Seattle Seahawks. He was reunited with coach Mike Holmgrem.
4: At the end of the 2004 season Rice signed one year deal with the Broncos. Ultimately he decided to retire than be at the bottom of the depth chart. He signed a one day contract with the 49ers to retire. Rice signed for 1,985,806.49. It represented the year he was drafted (1985), the number he wore (80), the year he retired (2006) and the 49ers.
